Runners who are blood donors ...

How long do you think it takes to recover from giving blood? To running, say, 10 miles? A friend has suggested a couple of weeks - about right?

Do you run 10 miles generally ie are you wondering about recovery time? My bf gives blood although doesn't run as far (is more a 5k runner) and I think had a day off running and was fine.

2 weeks sounds a bit excessive to me tbh

I try and run 10 miles every couple of weeks with a number of shorter runs in between. But I run on my own out in the countryside so don't want to find myself in difficulties!

You make the volume up quickly but the red blood cells take a bit longer to get back to pre-donation level. You can go running after a couple of days to see how you feel, it's different for everyone. I think I did a long-ish run the weekend after donation, so about 5 or 6 days, but I wasn't in danger of breaking any records Grin
