what's best for an unfit newbie?

I've lost 20lbs since early march & although I've got the same again to lose before I'm a healthy BMI, I finally feel ready to combine my new healthy eating with some exercise but not really sure where to start.

The good news is I have 2 weekday mornings off work & could grab an hour at the weekend so have no excuse about not having time, bad news is SPD in last pregnancy is flared by even a brisk walk (& dubious pelvic floor muscles Blush) probably exclude the obvious answer of get out running. I'm thinking cycling but so unfit I'm puffed out just going half a mile to the local shops so wondering if/how much exercise I'll actually get. Hate home DVDs & can't afford gym membership.

Any thoughts?

swimming might help the spd, crawl, backstroke, careful aqua aerobics. avoid stuff that spreads your legs, squats etc.

Could you get a pedometre and just aim for steps first?

Start with reaching 10,000 every day as advised and then challenge yourself for more?

Sign up to a charity walk or something for motivation maybe.

If you cycled regularly you'd soon find that you don't get puffed out so easily, what ever exercise you choose just push yourself a little bit each time and fitness will improve.
No need to go hell for leather and half kill yourself Wink

I'm with Suzannewithaplan - cycling is free (as you have a bike) and useful if you can use it to get somewhere, and it's easier on the joints than running. Just take it slowly and build up.
