how do you motivate yourself to go running?

I always have such good intentions, to get up nice and early and go for a run....

And I always always fail to do so.

I have made exciting playlists, and get podcasts ready, but I just can't make myself do it.

Maybe I am just lazy?

Any tips?

I'm sure the experts say you shouldn't run after turning 20 years old because it knackers your knees.

Afaik running can strengthen knees, obviously injuries are more likely if you do a great deal of running.

Not suggesting they're inevitable, some people do very high mileage and are fine

I run first thing so that I don't spend the rest of the day worrying about when I'll fit in a run.

Today I ran in the morning then got the chance to bike ride with the smalls in the evening - bonus.

damage to knees is more likley if you increase mileage too quickly, or run in unsuitable shoes. Running is good for your knees, done properly. If you do have knee issues, run off road rather than on hard surfaces.

I run in the evening in the week (not enough time in the morning), but first thing in the morning at the weekend. I find I don't need to motivate myself, I really enjoy it (perhaps I am weird!) I don't feel guilty having a beer at the weekend if I've been for a run in the morning!

running helped my knees a lot once I made it my main thing and cut back on other stuff, insanity was not good for them, also dry skiing

the transition from trail to road, and the change in shoes, was a big factor in how I strained my calf

Arrange to run with a friend
