Good exercise to do whilst I try to heal a bad foot

I have an accessory navicular (congenital: extra bone in foot, flat arches) and have developed the associated syndrome (basically tendinitis) as a result of attempting to do C25k. I am under orthopedic care which has resulted in a diagnosis and a set of orthotics but very little advice except to ice and ibuprofen it.

My tendon is still flaring up and I know losing weight would reduce the strain. I have gained weight since I had to stop exercising. :(

I need some advice about what I can do other than swimming. I hate swimming but am giving it a go. I am so crap at my strokes that it's not the greatest exercise.

I also don't have a lot of time, I am a SAHM with no family support nearby. To swim I have to use the crèche at a council gym a 25 minute drive away.

We do have a set of weights in the house. And a bench which could be set up, but I don't know where to start.
