Advice on what to eat/drink before a 10K race

Hi

I usually run after I have taken the kids to school and always on an empty stomach. This seems to suit me well enough but I am worried about what to eat before the 10K race I have signed up for in a few weeks time. It starts at 9.30 and I don't think it's a particularly good idea to have nothing beforehand but I worry that if I eat breakfast, even if it's at 7am, I will feel a bit sluggish. Are there any special drinks I could have that would give me some calories and energy without making me feel like I've eaten? Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Anjelika

Bananas and porridge are great before a run, I wouldn't over do the fluids before the race as you don't want to be stopping half way round to use the loo.
