That's it really. I've been challenged to sum it up in one sentence and I'm interested to know why you run. Grin

I love the freedom and the stress relief it provides.

I saw a quote that said "I run because its cheaper than therapy" and that sums it up quite well (other than the cheaper bit running clothes are too tempting!)

TheRaniOfYawn · 11/03/2014 22:29

It keeps me sane. Mostly.

I've heard it's good for your knee's
(I dont run muchBlush, just a big of treadmill jogging/intervals)

PepeLePew · 11/03/2014 22:40

I feel better afterwards.

That's it. I never look forward to it, I don't particularly enjoy it while I am doing it, but I feel awesome and invincible afterwards. And not just straight after - for the rest of the day and in general. I'm so much fitter and stronger because of running.

AddictedtoCrunchies · 12/03/2014 07:24

Thanks all.

Pepe I can completely relate to that. Grin

CMOTDibbler · 12/03/2014 07:26

because I love the wind in my hair, the sun on my face, and the pride in what my (aged, broken) body can do

FuckyNell · 12/03/2014 07:32

The zombies are coming!

busybeev · 12/03/2014 07:33

pepe that is exactly what I wanted to say!
I only took up running a year ago when I started the C25K. I always said I wasn't built to be a runner but here I am really doing it! I'm no marathon runner but can quite happily do 6 miles.
The way I feel after and like you say for the rest of the day is amazing.

zaphod · 12/03/2014 07:33

....it's the only time it feels like I'm not running.

ThatBloodyWoman · 12/03/2014 07:36

It's free, can be done any time, and I have a huge appetite that needs a counterbalance.

EauRouge · 12/03/2014 08:38

I run because then my children can't catch me.

MaddAddam · 12/03/2014 08:40

It's about the easiest, cheapest form of exercise to fit into a busy life. Before children I used to play tennis and squash, go windsurfing and sailing and mountain climbing, areobics classes etc. They all took time and organsation, or a friend.
With running you don't need a friend or a sports club or lots of time.

also it makes me feel super-smug when I've been on a run even though I'm not very good. It's a great mood enhancer.

cinnamongreyhound · 12/03/2014 20:25

Because I love it and it makes me a better person.

Bapple · 12/03/2014 22:52

because it is cheaper than anti-depressants and the side effects are much more bearable.

trainersandaches · 12/03/2014 22:54

...I love my body working in the way it is meant to work rather than me sitting on the sofa watching telly!

Fozzleyplum · 12/03/2014 22:55

All of the above! Oh, and it keeps my asthma at bay.

sanityawol · 12/03/2014 22:56

Something's chasing me... Grin

In all seriousness, I need to start to do some exercise, and now that DH has switched to day shift after over 2 years of permanent nights I finally can.

Smilesandpiles · 13/03/2014 14:15

It's the only time I don't think about anything at all. Nothing. Just listening to the rhythm of my feet pounding the treadmill.

I ran 4K for the first time today. It felt good, really good.

I'm aiming for 5k next week.

JoJoMojito · 13/03/2014 16:14

I run because it keeps me sane & thin. In that order.

cathpip · 13/03/2014 16:20

I run because I like eating too much cake :)

cathpip · 13/03/2014 16:21

Oh and because it's me time and the dogs get their exercise!!

MissMilbanke · 13/03/2014 16:24

Because I can.

Em3978 · 13/03/2014 16:26

...because I like food!
...it stops me killing people!
...it lifts my depression Grin

Em3978 · 13/03/2014 16:26

(I finished the c25k yesterday!)
