No headphones allowed and there's a time limit of 2.5 hours! Neither one should be a problem really but there was no mention of either when I signed up and now I'm stressing about it.

I'm expecting to do it in about 2.15 - 2.20 so may be cutting it a bit fine if something goes wrong. I'm worried that I'll stress out and go too fast at the beginning and then run out of steam, or that it'll be really bloody windy, or that I'll have to stop for a pee.

Someone please hand me a grip!

Exactly. I have my music on so quietly that it's completely drowned out when I get close to the motorway. I can't hear a damn thing over the wind at the moment either.

Thanks for the votes of confidence. Not sure about 2 hours Grin but I'm feeling better about a sub 2.30. My DDs will be so upset if I don't bring home a medal.

I'm another audiobook listener WillieWaggledagger. I find running basically quite boring so the distraction of a good story helps. I can still hear people coming up behind me and traffic noise.

WillieWaggledagger · 13/02/2014 13:18

yes i can hear traffic and footsteps easily, though i accept that i may be less reactive than if i weren't listening to anything

tbh i ran fine without headphones for years because when i first started running (15 years ago) MP3 players simply weren't available/affordable, so i could do it without, but it's almost a timesaving thing now - i can kill two birds with one stone by exercising and catching up on books/radio 4 programmes at the same time Grin

Love listening to audiobooks when I'm running. I listen to crime/thrillers mostly, so I'm gripped and want to keep running to find out how the story turns out. Music just bores me over long distances.
Eau, sure you'll do your half in the time required, and that they won't boot you out on the dot. rushes off to check instructions for my half good luck!
