Thanks Kitey and Chameleon. I had a look at the Zombie app and it sounds complicated - is it straightforward enough for a 13 yr old to use?

Who am I kidding - she's far more IT literate than me, of course!

More to the point - is it fun?

EdithDickie · 07/06/2014 22:01

Well done spooky!!!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. I didn't go out today but planning on going tomorrow night. 3 minutes.... BRING IT ON!

Kasterborous · 08/06/2014 19:46

Well done spooky Grin

Keep it going Edith Smile

I'm staying at the MIL's this weekend and have just been out for a run. They have an old railway line here so I went down there. I had a fantastic run tonight as it's easy under foot and level with no up or down. I even sped up for the last 15 mins then again for the last minute. Though my run keeper was way off with the GPS. Apparantly I did 9 miles! I wish. I would have liked to know how far I did go today because it was the fastest I've ever gone yet. Smile

spookyskeleton · 08/06/2014 20:16

kaster do you know how long in time you ran for? if so, could you work out how far based on your usual time per mile? At least that would give you a good estimate.

Kasterborous · 08/06/2014 20:42

I ran for 30 mins spooky I usually do about 2.7 miles so I think I maybe did nearer 3 miles today. Everything just seemed right today. I could breathe fairly easily and my legs just seemed to have a mind of their own and just kept going. It was great. The next time I go out will probably be terrible and really hard. That's usually how it goes!

KiteyDelighty · 08/06/2014 21:35

CQ yes zombies run 5k is easy to use and it makes running slightly more fun for me. I think the full zombies run has random zom chases but I am not fit enough for that yet!

ChameleonCircuit · 08/06/2014 22:31

Me again. Went to Filey today, so I took my trainers and leggings and did W1R2 on Filey seafront! Trainers not good though. I got some advice from Sweatshop yesterday and I have completely flat feet, which explains the ankle pain. My lungs would let me go longer than the minute, but my ankles refuse. Going to try and get some motion control/max cushioning trainers ASAP. When I'd finished the run, I went in the open air paddling pool with the kids and it was BLISS. I can see why serious athletes have ice baths. Smile

dizzyday07 · 09/06/2014 01:52

W6R3 for me today. 25 mins continuous running and according to Laura I am now a runner! Grin

It wasn't as bad as I had imagined it could be and by 20 minutes I actually felt like I was striding out like a "proper" runner might. At the end I felt I could have continued for a but longer but stopped anyway - and my legs felt instantly like jelly for half of the warm down!

Goldensunnydays81 · 09/06/2014 08:49

Well done spooky and everyone else who Is completing great runs!!

I have got w4r1 today and I am scared!
I can't believe that I have got to week 4 and I am actually enjoying it but u really don't know if I will be able to do the 5 minute run today. I have got my sister running with me and she is super fit so at least she will be able to encourage me on!!

MadMonkeys · 09/06/2014 18:37

Hi everyone, haven't posted for a while as we have been away on Skye which is great for sea kayaking but not so great for the novice runner! so I'm a bit rusty after two weeks off, and boy,is the heat killing me! I stopped my last run early, the first time ive ever done that, as i just couldn't keep going in the heat. Anyone else struggling? Just debating with myself whether to go for a run now, its hot and I'm tired...

NoMoreMarbles · 10/06/2014 13:37

Hi :)

Im starting the C25K tonight...

any tips for a complete running novice? :)

Whatsthatnoise · 10/06/2014 14:36

Hi all I completed w1r3 today and finally feel like I'm ready to join in here Grin it actually took me 3 tries to be able to even do 60 seconds so today was my 6th run Blush
The heat is killing me too especially as I can only run at 1pm when I take dd to nursery, thankfully this is Scotland and it has rained the last couple of days Smile

ChameleonCircuit · 10/06/2014 19:58

NoMoreMarbles - in the words of Lord Flashheart, "Just doo-oooo-oooo it". Grin

whatsthatnoise - hello from a fellow newbie. Smile

Kasterborous · 10/06/2014 21:42

nomoremarbles what chameleoncircuit said woooof. Grin I hope you got on okay tonight. Smile there is no trick to it just follow the programme it really does work.

whatsthatnoise it doesn't matter if it takes you a bit longer especially in this heat. To quote Mr Bull from Peppa Pig 'it will take as long as it takes'.

Off topic I like your nm chameleoncircuit

ChameleonCircuit · 10/06/2014 22:20

Why thank you Kasterborous Grin Yours makes me homesick.

Kasterborous · 10/06/2014 22:26

Grin at chameleoncircuit

Whatsthatnoise · 10/06/2014 22:36

Finally sat down, even if it is on the bus home from work it feels so good to sit down Grin
Going to attempt w2r1 tomorrow. Is it wrong to wish for rain Wink

MooseyMouse · 11/06/2014 04:34

Incredibly I'm doing w2r3 today. I'm stunned that I'm doing this!

dizzy Well done. I'm inspired by your achievements.

chameleon nomoremarbles whatsthatnoise and edith (and other people starting out) - how's it going? I'm finding myself nervous of each step up. I'm currently looking at next week's three-min runs with fear!

Lost 9 lbs so far by cutting out snacks, doing 10,000 steps a day and c25k. Now 12st 12lb. Feeling very chuffed with myself.

spookyskeleton · 11/06/2014 07:17

mousey well done on the weight loss Smile am very jealous as I didn't lose anything whilst doing the C25k but I think because I was substituted this exercise for exercise that I used to do at the gym.

For all of those of you thinking you will never do the next step up to 3,5, 20 minutes etc - trust the plan! You can and will do it and you will feel such a sense of achievement Smile

Whatsthatnoise · 11/06/2014 07:28

mousey congrats on the weight loss. I have alot of weight to lose but ultimately just want to be fitter and healthier Grin
I'm a little nervous about moving on to week 2 but I am determined to do it. Will report back later and let you know how I get on.

Goldensunnydays81 · 11/06/2014 10:53

Well done mousey that is a great weight loss!!
I am hoping to get my 1 stone loss from slimming world tonight it is taking a while!

Well I am on week 4 can't believe that the 3 minute runs are actually feeling easier!!
I done w4r1 on Monday which was hard I managed the 1st 5 minute run but the second one only 3 min 40 but today's run I managed both of them Grin glad I had my sister with me to do it tho and I left her in charge of the phone so I couldn't look at how long I had left running!
I'm feeling loads fitter in everday life which is fab.

Whatsthatnoise · 11/06/2014 14:18

well I never got my wish for rain and only managed 2 of the 90 second runs. Hopefully next time will be easier Smile

Watto1 · 11/06/2014 19:21

Not a good run todaySad . W8R1. First time I have had to take an unscheduled walk break since I started the programme all those weeks ago. I got to about two-thirds of the way through and just had no energy at all.

spookyskeleton · 11/06/2014 19:36

watto don't stress about it. one thing I have learnt whilst doing this is that you will get bad runs every now and again but you just need to forget it and your next run will be fine Smile easy to say as I still beat myself up after a bad run Wink

Kasterborous · 11/06/2014 21:58

Watto please don't worry about it or let it put you off. I remember my first run that I just couldn't finish in week nine I felt like giving the whole thing up and was really cross with myself. I finished the programme about seven weeks ago and still get the odd run that I just can't finish. I accept it now and just go out again the next time. It's annoying when there seems to be no obvious reason and it made me cross with myself, it just happens sometimes.
