Good morning! Just done the 30 mins and I lived every second! I changed my route and it was lush. It's still straight from my door but there are sheep in my path and everything!! I will check the distance later and reply to others. But for now Grin Grin Grin

stilllearnin · 15/05/2014 10:07

Oh I loved every second too!!

spookyskeleton · 15/05/2014 10:08

dizzy you can do it Smile Smile Smile

still well done. I love that feeling I get when I have finished a run like that - just wish I felt like that during the run as well Wink. don't think I am a natural runner Sad.

TiaDalma · 15/05/2014 10:57

Still that's awesome, I really I hope I can get to a point where I actually enjoy it...
Good luck dizzy, I'm sure you will do great!
I did my second run today, after 2 days of aching legs. It was very nearly raining to, so I'm proud I didn't just give in and not go. Still found it a bit tough, but I don't feel half as knackered after as I did last time, so that's a good sign right?
Also did plenty of stretching after so will hopefully not feel too achy tomorrow Smile
So according to the signposts along my way I went 1km there and 1km back, 2 measly km! How on earth am I supposed to be able to do 5 in he same amount if time!?

Kasterborous · 15/05/2014 12:29

That's brilliant stillearnin sounds like it was a lovely run Smile it's always good when you enjoy it too.

stilllearnin · 15/05/2014 15:34

Tia but 2 km is where you start. After week one you'll have done 6km! Does it really matter that you've done it over several days? Well done for getting out there. It honestly gets easier when you don't have to keep walking. Sounds silly but it's true. Just trust it. I'm not up to 5k yet i'm sure but it's in touching distance so I'm going to work on that.

Kasterborous · 15/05/2014 15:50

Tia I agree with everything stillearnin said.

morethanacondiment · 15/05/2014 18:41

Oh lord, DD is asleep on me and as soon as I transfer her to her cot, I'm off for W5R3 this may be my last post...

Morrigu · 15/05/2014 21:19

Best of luck morethan and dizzy. You'll both do great!

That's fab stillearning. Glad you enjoyed it, especially on such a hot day today.

Tia you are being too hard on yourself. As the weeks go on, the timed runs get longer and the distance will increase. I can see that week for week in the notebook I kept from going through the programme. Think of it this way if you were lifting weights, you wouldn't expect to be able to lift the heaviest one straight away. You start small, stick at it and little by little you would increase the weight :)

spookyskeleton · 15/05/2014 21:20

morethan how did it go?

Did 5k again tonight Grin Grin it was easier than Monday morning but I always run better in an evening.

Still can't believe that 7 weeks ago I wasn't running and now I can do 5k... amazing Shock

morethanacondiment · 15/05/2014 21:34

I'm alive! Grin no thanks to bloody Laura though...think the app froze, so was stumbling along cursing her as she said I'd done ten minutes, then bumped into DH who was doing a different loop and was cheering that we'd finished. Luckily I was using RunKeeper as well, which confirmed I was on 27 minutes (so had done 5 minutes warm-up and 22 minutes run). That deserves a bit of Easter egg, yeah?!
Am very slow still, only doing about 4.5k inc the warm-up and down, but feel like I can work on that when I can cope with the time...that's what you seasoned couchers seem to say anyway!

TiaDalma · 15/05/2014 21:49

Thanks guys Smile .. Don't know if you have noticed but I am slightly impatient! My legs aren't aching like mad though like the first time, which is progress right? I'm holding on to that!
spooky you are my inspiration!
Well done morethan! You definitely deserve the Easter egg!

stilllearnin · 15/05/2014 21:51

Morethan! Well done- you even did a bit extra! I download the podcasts individually rather than use the app if that makes sense? I use an old iPod touch. If I have more than one it skips between podcasts, but anyway just wondering if that might help your techno issues!

labelwriter · 15/05/2014 21:53

Hello all, new here but on WK6 tomorrow and going to do my first 25 minute run tomorrow. Slightly apprehensive about it. Annoyingly the GPS on my phone app doesn't seem to work properly so have no idea how far I am actually running.

Kasterborous · 15/05/2014 22:12

Grin your still alive morethan soon be running for 30 mins now Smile

Tia I was just the same. Your legs are getting used to it now, no more aches Smile

labelwriter if you've come this far you will easily do your 25min run tomorrow. I found the last run of week six easier than the previous two when you still had to do some walking. My GPS doesn't work properly either it seems to think I've done six miles sometimes and said I'd done a five minute mile once. I wish!

spooky that is brilliant. I finished the programme two weeks ago and still haven't managed 5K. I will do it one day.

Morrigu · 15/05/2014 22:19

Well done morethan!! You still have easter eggs left Grin? Think that desreves a whole one, none of your a bit business.

I know it is amazing spooky. I mentioned going for a run to one of the school gate mums as my hair was wet from just getting out of the shower and she came out with she couldn't run at all. I got all enthused about couch to 5k telling her how I used to think the same Blush In fourteen weeks I've gone from unable to run at all to running my first 10k and weirdly even enjoying it.

Hi labelwriter. I've used mapometer or mapmyrun to estimate distances in the past. Not so good if you're running in the countryside but ok if you're sticking along roads.

dizzyday07 · 16/05/2014 01:44

I DID IT!!!! Grin I can't quite believe it Shock

DD went into meltdown before we left, crying because she thought she wouldn't be able to run for the full time. I was worried then that I'd have to stop if she couldn't carry on, but although she virtually half walked/half ran every step, and complained that her knee hurt, we completed the whole thing - and if truth be told - it wasn't that bad!

We covered @1.9km in the 20 mins so I estimate it will take us 30/40 mins on Sunday to the 3k - provided I stick to my own snail pace and let the other 498 runners go first!

Congratulations Morethan

spookyskeleton · 16/05/2014 06:28

Well done dizzy and morethan Smile I think everyone goes into those runs thinking they can't do them and everyone does Smile onwards and upwards from now on.

Still have 3 weeks left on the program and wondering what else I will achieve in that time. I am so glad I joined the running group as seeing all these people managing 5k last night was such a buzz, particularly my friends who had done no exercise before.

Happy runs today everyone

De lurking to say that I have been watching dizzday's progress as we have been on the same run.

Congratulations! I know exactly how you feel cos I managed W5r3 yesterday too!

stilllearnin · 16/05/2014 08:47

Just to say mapmy run goes off road. You need to uncheck the box that says something like follow roads. The box is on the main panel that has the undo icon etc.

morethanacondiment · 16/05/2014 08:54

Huzzah! I can still walk today! Thanks for words of encouragement, and well done to you all, especially dizzy and ladyflip.
(Was too knackered to go and find the Easter eggs in the end; we've hidden the ludicrous quantities of chocolate from our DC but it's too well-hidden to just help myself to)
Roll on W6R1 Hmm

morethanacondiment · 16/05/2014 08:56

Oh! Is there music on the podcast still? Will it drive me loopy?

skuntoo · 16/05/2014 11:19

Hello all can I join in too- i've been lurking until I caught up with the thread plus my Dp is getting fed up of me talking about running Blush
I've just completed week 3 and I am really enjoying it but trying not to think about wk4 running for 5 mins is making me worry. Really pleased with myself for sticking to it and already seeing the benefits would like to lose a stone of baby weight even though the baby is now 2.5 its better late than never Smile
My knee is just starting to twinge but not when running so ill see how next wk goes and I might get some new trainers

dizzyday07 · 18/05/2014 07:32

Today is race day [sick face]

I am going to try and last the whole 3k running but as I reckon it will take us @30mins it will be 1.5 times as far as we ran the other day!
