I dont run, I dont even really excersise, I get out of breath walking up two flights of stairs to my office. Is it absolute madness to think if I start training now I could do the Great Nirth Run in september?

well you could do....but what is motivating you?

GirlsonFilm · 12/01/2014 14:07

Yes you can. Like you I don't do much exercise and intend doing the Great North Run this September.

My motivation is to improve my general fitness and I'm from the northeast so it's a run I've known a long time.

My motivation is to improve my fitness and set myself a challenge Ive decided to do the Sunderland 10k this year and maybe the GNR next year. Good luck GirlsonFilm

of course you can!! Believe in yourself, get a decent sports bra & trainers & go out there to run!

Mind over matter - its a lot to do with than. Join a gym and get cracking!

I wanted to do it but decided the logistics with getting back to the start line was too much with DH & 3 kids. A friend did it last year & it took him 3 hours to get back. I CBA with that but maybe one day when the kids are older I will.

I'm doing the Cardiff half again instead!

Good luck!!

Thats why the Sunderland 10k appeals start and finish line 5min walk from my house. Ive heard the GNR can be horrendous logistics wise. Got my couch to 10k plan its a 12 week plan race in 16 weeks so here goes nothing!

I also love the BUPA Manchester 10k. Logistic wise its fab! And cheaper to stay over for 1 night. Plus its only an hour run & start/finish line are very close.

I booked a hotel in Newcastle for this year - just incase but after I heard about the 3 hour wait....I cancelled as DH wasn't too keen.

You will be fine. They say if you can run for 4 miles non stop you can easily do 6. The crowds are fab in races!
