So glad you've started this. I really want to go for a run, but yes it is windy and raining AND I have a bit of an injured leg BUT I need to get out of the bloody house :(

missmapp · 23/12/2013 12:12

I went yesterday morning, so sitting out today!! Desperate to get out of the house though, so may go for a walk later, even if I am half drowned.

Mitchy1nge · 23/12/2013 12:15

but it has to be done

maybe after one final coffee

It is a vile prospect, isn't it. I ran yesterday and am feebly hoping tomorrow improves...

princessalbert · 23/12/2013 12:19

Ugh. It's grim

Don't actually mind running in the rain. But not wind AND rain.

Meglet · 23/12/2013 12:22

I don't blame you. I'm quite glad I can't fit a run in until Xmas day.

I did have to walk back from the shops with heavy bags earlier, can't say that was a bundle of laughs Hmm.

EauRougemasTree · 23/12/2013 12:23

I have very well-timed lurgy. Too ill to run but I wouldn't want to anyway in this weather. I don't mind snow, rain, sleet- anything except bloody wind!

ChancetoDance · 23/12/2013 12:25

I've been this morning Grin It was fun, went with half a dozen friends and did killer hill reps for an hour. Then everyone came back here for coffee and cake.

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 23/12/2013 12:34

I agree OP, but I know I really really really need to get out. Im not going to get fit sitting at home all day. Then again Monday is not a usual running day for me anyway. Im hoping tomorrow will be better.

Mitchy1nge · 23/12/2013 13:55

yay holiday running plan says 1x10 mile run this week and next and any optional bonus runs and or spin

so fuck that shit, now for the feat of endurance that is John Lewis

I love running in wind and rain, great fun!
Now, cycling in both sucks.

MrsSippie · 23/12/2013 15:28

I've just cheated and been swimming instead (in a pool, no the street, although that is looking possible....)

Quangle · 23/12/2013 15:42

I went this morning just as it was all kicking off. It was actually quite exhilarating. Everyone was struggling with bags and umbrellas and I was just wet and running. Better than I thought.

Disclaimer though - I only did 30 mins and came back to eat a ham and cheese sandwich with mayo and a mince pie Grin

PepeLePew · 23/12/2013 21:07

I quite like the rain, and the wind. I hate walking in it, but there's something quite liberating about running in it. That said, I haven't actually left the house today, and don't imagine I will tomorrow unless I can persuade three slightly ill children to tag along on their bikes...

Pan · 24/12/2013 06:43

I don't mind either/both tbh for running. The rain helps with staying cooler and the wind is a sort of challenge and adds to the intensity of the run.
Riding a bike - don't mind rain (As you only get wet/soaked once) but wind will punish you all day. And side gusts of wind makes it feel really dangerous in traffic.

addictedtosugar · 24/12/2013 06:55

The half dozen of us that sometimes run at lunch time chickened out yesterday. I guess the fact we would then have to fight for a shower, and sit in the office for the afternoon makes us very fair weather joggers?

Don't mind rain, but horizontal rain is horrible to be out in.

Not looked out of the window, but sounds a bit more peaceful now?

MrsSippie · 24/12/2013 09:19

Calmed down a fair bit here, so will give it a go later I think ...

louwn · 26/12/2013 17:08

I ran on monday in the freezing rain and wind, it was horrible but felt fine after a hot shower! Ice is also not good - just done a slow 5 miles avoiding frost on he ground which took bloody ages.

MacaYoniandCheese · 26/12/2013 17:12

Do it! It's invigorating and you'll feel like a superhero afterwards.

MrsSippie · 26/12/2013 17:29

Dreading the snow and ice (new runner - started in the lovely summer Grin ) but I have to admit I am liking rain running!

EauRougemasTree · 26/12/2013 18:44

Ice isn't much fun but running in the snow is ace. You can get these (or similar) to put on your running shoes. Stay away from metal manhole covers though!

ilovesmurfs · 26/12/2013 18:46

I dont mind running in the rain, I hate running in the wind, whichever direction I go I am always running against the wind!

Mitchy1nge · 26/12/2013 18:49

I conveniently have some kind of mad calf disease (or strain) just as the weather turned calm and sunny Hmm

OP posts:
MrsSippie · 26/12/2013 19:00

oooh, I'm liking those yakktrax Grin

EauRougemasTree · 26/12/2013 19:00

I squeezed in a quick (actually very slow because I've eaten too much) 5k today, it's going to get windy again tomorrow.
