I ran my first 3k today.

It's the first time I have ever run/jogged that far in my life, 6 months ago I wouldn't even run up the stairs in the house without getting out of breath.

It took me aaaggessss (21 mintues) and I know it's nothing impressive compared to the runners on this part of the forum, but I got there and I'm aching really proud of it.

I guess what I am saying is that it CAN be done and you can do it. Just take it easy.

Well done farrow you should be proud of yourself, that is amazing progress you've made in 6 months!

Thank you Blush

I've posted this as a sort of booster for anyone thinking about starting or who has just started.

Clap clap clap.

I got back on the treadmill today for the first time since I got pregnant with ds (he's three).

I ache like a mad thing but it's fantastic. I bloody love running. I'll remind myself of that tomorrow when I can't get downstairs!

Well done you.

Oh don't feel silly!
I managed to run 5.5miles the other day and I was so bloody pleased with myself even though i sometimes feel I'm surrounded by people running marathons and half marathons!
I started as a 2012 resolution, and have finally got the measure of myself I think
(Disclaimer: I have been pg and given birth in that time, and given up smoking)

Well done you Smile

Don't knock 21 mins for 3km, seriously! That's a 35min 5 km time which is not to be sniffed at. Be very proud of yourself, farrow, you desrve to be Smile

farrowandbawlbauls · 12/12/2013 17:57

Thank you everyone.

TheMuppets I didn't realise it was quite a good time and 5k is what I'm aiming for eventually. I'm taking my time about it though.

I need some proper trainers though, I'm getting shin splints for a couple of days afterwards which is annoying me. Hoping to pick some up in a sale in the New Year.
