I've started C25k and am loving it! :)

Looks like I will be running in the rain! Confused

I need my iPhone for music and the app but don't want to get it wet.
Will I sweat buckets if I wear an old waterproof jacket?

What do you wear?

Watching with interest. This is an issue for me too. I usually just tuck my MP3 player into the little pocket in my running trousers. I put housekeys down the side of my bra Smile

I think a jacket would make you uncomfortably hot. Baseball cap or similar to keep most of the rain off your face. Otherwise I would wear whatever you normally wear, but would be interested to hear what other folks do

I wear a vest top and then my waterproof hi-viz coat plus a cap (I wear glasses so it keeps the rain off of them). You do sweat (think 'boil in the bag' chicken) however by just wearing a vest underneath it's not as bad.

But I only do tat in heavy rain. In light rain I just run in normal running gear as I get hot in too many layers. I use a shuffle and clip it on the inside of my top. If I take my phone, I put it in the zip pocket of my running pants.

HTH

I go out as usual, I always end up sweaty anyway so rain doesn't bother me.

iPhone in a food bag to keep the rain off it. I'm cool.

i use a running belt, i can get my smart phone, keys, a bit of cash and MP3 player in it, and wear long sleeved running top to wipe the drips off my nose to keep my hands warm when it's raining

Suddengeekgirl · 04/10/2013 14:50

paperpompom - food bag round the phone is a genius idea! I will be doing that tonight! :)

A running belt might be a good idea next time I'm near a sports place.

I'm only onto week 4 day 2 so still learning! I haven't run in anything other than light drizzle so far! Confused

Just finished today's run!

I've got a little waterproof zipper bag that I use to keep my car key in when dinghy sailing. I put my phone in that if I run during the day and nobody is home. Or a bum bag if looks like it's not going to rain much.

you can get nice running jackets with ipod/keys/mobile pockets.
loads of places (eg start fitness and runners need) have them 1/3 to 50% off in sales. usually showerproof and breathable

a worthy investment imho

that said - i run in a breathable long sleeved t and jus get wet

cathpip · 04/10/2013 20:24

And if you don't have a food bag, a nappy sack works just as well! If you get caught in a down pour a showerproof jacket is as much use as a chocolate teapot. It might be worth checking out mountain/racing bike gear...
