I'm so exhausted, how can I get myself back to the gym?

Haven't been to the gym for about 3 months now, firstly because I sprained my wrist & then time has just gone on & on.

But I'm exhausted, some evenings I can barely summon the energy to cook dinner, how can I get back into it. Evenings & weekends are the only time I can really go, I have 2 small boys & whilst there's a crèche at the gym it's expensive & often fully booked.

I'm sure I sound like I'm making excuses (& I probably am) but I can't get off my backside & get myself motivated.

I dont think you are just making excuses but you might find that once you actually get there you feel ok and 'up for it' the problem is making yourself go when you really dont feel like it!

I find it helps if I tell myself that if I still feel rubbish when I get to the gym & start training I'll just make it a short easy workout.
Most of the time something just sort of 'shifts' in me and I get into workout mode as soon as I have my training gear on :o

I'm like Lazy - I try and make sure I actually get to the gym and then once I'm there I decide whether it's going to be a very light, short session or my normal intense one. 9 times out of 10 I feel fine once I'm there and do my normal session, then feel terrific once I'm finished. Another thing that helps me is putting on my gym kit well before I'm due to go to the gym - in my case I train at lunch so I actually wear my gym kit from the morning once I wake up (helps that I work from home so no colleagues to judge my workwear!).

Do you work ? I try to go on my way home as then i don't get distracted into making an excuse.
