Just wondering if anyone has heard whether they have a ballot place yet? I know the charity and GFA runners already know they have a spot, but what about those in the grand raffle/ballot?

I think the ballot results are out in october. Good luck.

migrant · 29/09/2013 07:21

Lucky you, girlsyearapart!
I still haven't heard either way, hoping it's just that overseas mail takes longer!

girlsyearapart · 29/09/2013 08:57

My friend only found out yesterday.
The e mail I had said it takes up to ten days to notify everyone

PiggyPlumPie · 29/09/2013 12:20

I got in too! Was not expecting it and am still in shock!

Have only told Dh so far.

girlsyearapart · 29/09/2013 14:32

Glad I'm not the only one piggy!
How far have you run before?

louwn · 29/09/2013 15:26

I didn't get in but have entered edinburgh instead - anyone else doing it?

Mitchy1nge · 29/09/2013 20:17

hi louwn, I just registered for Edinburgh - should have been Madrid but mustn't grumble - shall we start a separate thread?

girlsyearapart · 29/09/2013 20:27

I was talking marathons with my friends dh today & he did Edinburgh last year & said it was great.

This can be a general marathon thread mitchy if you like?

countingdown · 29/09/2013 20:29

I have a place. I am terrified!

girlsyearapart · 29/09/2013 20:35

In London countingdown ?
I am also terrified!

How far have you run before?

louwn · 29/09/2013 21:31

Good idea mitchy (although will admit I don't actually know how to do that...!)

PiggyPlumPie · 29/09/2013 22:27

It will actually be my sixth London!!!! But the others were in a previous life before kids (98 being the last one).

Most I've run recently is a 10K back in April and not run since so essentially starting from scratch.

It is a fabulous atmosphere though and the crowds are amazing and will get us round!

girlsyearapart · 29/09/2013 23:07

Wow you've already done 5 marathons!!

I am such a novice..

PiggyPlumPie · 30/09/2013 11:47

I have just done my first training run of a mile and a half and trust me I felt every inch a novice!

migrant · 30/09/2013 12:39

I'm still waiting to hear if I have a place. Even tried phoning them today but the answer phone message basically says that they won't look into it until after October 7th. Meanwhile the poor postman must think he has a stalker!!

girlsyearapart · 30/09/2013 16:26

Mitchy1nge · 30/09/2013 21:26

haha no, mine YAWN and they try to be polite and stifle it and say they skipped their morning coffee and it's not me and my fascinating stream of pace, speed, splits, intervals, hills and fartlek chat but I know it is Confused I just don't know why they can't feel it too?

girlsyearapart · 01/10/2013 12:13
