Woohoo - I actually ran the last run just now, I'm sitting here dripping with sweat and feeling like a cross between Jessica Ennis and Elle Macpherson*. Did my first run on 19th June and can hardly believe I can already run so far without stopping.

If it hadn't been for Mumsnet I would never have believed it was possible. Thanks everyone for keeping the faith, and for those of you still on the way up keep it up, it's a fantastic feeling!

  • I may not look quite like them yet, but I have faith

yay!!!

well done you....so what is your plan now? this was a dangerous time for me. first time I just stopped running, second time I graduated I joined a running club to keep momentum going.....joined 'parkrun'....entered races.....did c210k......keep movin!

Well done!

I'm looking for inspiration from people like you because I start after DC3 is born in Dec/Jan.

Do you feel fitter/better?

purplewithred · 17/08/2013 15:03

I don't notice feeling fitter when I'm not running but I am definitely a bit tauter. I didn't really need to lose weight but wanted to have a bit of cardio health as I couldn't run for the train without getting puffy. I really notice it when I'm actually running - can't believe i can just keep going. Even if I stop to do something with my iphone or take jacket off I can start running again without thinking.

My plan now is

  • keep it up 3 x a week for half an hour or thereabouts; I'm not that fussed about getting to 10K
  • run a bit faster/further in that time
  • run with DP
  • do some park runs
  • feel virtuous and a high achiever

PS - I'm 55 so its never too late to start

Congrats! Inspiring to read stories like this so thanks for posting, I have that dreaded w5 20 min run looming (have just run w3r3 this morning) so It's good to have another example of why I should trust the programme!

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 09/12/2013 12:35

I graduated in the summer and am still managing 2-3 runs a week, although it's harder in the dark and cold. It's an amazing feeling - I couldn't run for the bus before! I'm evangelical about c25k!
