Can't use MapMyRUn to create a route that is not on roads?

I only seem to be able to use MapMyRun to create new routes on proper roads. The route I want to create doesn't seem possible because it is on a path along a river. Is this right? Does anyone know of a similar app/website where this is possible?

I use runmap.me; it does allow me to use our local river path but not some newer paths in a new housing estate,so you could try it and see.

In MapMyRun you able to untick autofollow roads on the floating tool bar when you want to go off road, as you do and then re-tick when you get back to the roads again.
Have a look above the "walking rules" icon.

I use WalkJogRun, it doesn't have footpaths on the map but you can use the satellite view to see where you need to go.
