Not out of breath but legs tired

Hi, I'm new-ish to running and more intense cardio activity having put a lot of effort into dance and yoga in my life. I find I get very tired legs quickly but I'm not out of breath at all, is this normal? Will it improve at all? Don't see how I'm improving my fitness if I'm getting tired but not out of breath.

I should Smile. You may find it varies day-to-day as well. I've been running for quite a while, but my energy levels vary according to my hormones, the amount of sleep I've had, what I've eaten/drunk, etc. I had a terrible day for tired legs yesterday - was furious with myself!
