Yes, yes I apologise for the DM link...www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2333002/The-10-minute-workout-rolled-away-spare-tyre-weeks-Think-hula-hoops-toys-They-change-life-.html

I know her posture is obviously different in the two pics but I have heard other people talk about using a weighted hoola hoop to exercise and having good results. I need something to get me kick started that will be fun...Can anyone recommend it ?

I go to Powerhoop classes at my local sports centre and have noticed a difference in the tone around my ribs, waist and bum and now have to downsize my bra back size because of it. I use the proper Powerhoop. I have a 5lb one although the ones in the classes tend to be the 4lb one.

Argos and tesco also sell a cheaper, much lighter hoop if you didnt want to spend that much. Dh gave me my powerhoop for my christmas so i didnt buy it myself.

Thanks for that. Was hoping to try and find a 4 or 5lb hoop but they seem to be much more expensive so maybe I'm sticking to the lighter one from Argos to start off with.

Sounds like a good idea. One problem though - I have never been able to hula hoop.

it takes practice and the right technique i.e. it is a back and forth movement rather than side to side or circular. There are lots of videos on youtube if you want some pointers.

one of my powerhoop instructors is on there (she is now a master instructor) and she has a warm up, hoop tracks plus upper body conditioning, etc

Thanks for that ilovepowerhoop. Tried mine for the first time last night then again this morning and was very surprised that I managed 10 mins - it's actually a lot easier to use than the lightweight plastic ones. But my God do my sides hurt now ! Will need to get some extra padding around my hip bones !

JustinBibermakesmevom could you link to the one you bought if it's any good?

Hi, here it is...www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/9010967.htm

The bruise marks on my stomach are ridiculous though so be warned...think I possibly over did it the first few days !

Thanks, I've just looked at getting it, none in my nearest 10 stores...

PinkMangoSays · 05/06/2013 19:48

Also, have lots of padding around those areas so I think I'#ll be fine on the bruising but thanks for the tip!
