I´m doing one in May and was wondering if anyone else had been brave (stupid) enough to try one...?

Worried about the electric shocks and 12 miles...need to work on my pull ups and increase my running distance by a few miles!

Well done clutching!!!! Tell us all about it! You did it AND posted all in one day! Bruises ago go then? What did you wear on the legs? Had hoped for shorts for rat race but not sure if sensible as so done who hates tights!!

ClutchingMyPearls · 05/05/2013 07:22

Big mistake to wear shorts I got major thigh chaffing! It was fun. The obstacles were tough. Jumping off the big platform in to water? Nearly shat myself. Electric shocks feel like you are bring punched with a sharp ring on. Arctic enema? Jeepers! Whacked all the breath from my body and lost control of my limbs! People are really helpful though and helped push/pull me up when stuck.

How you feeling today clutching?? So from Your comments above, wore the shorts I planned to wear on Sat and they chaffed!! Never thought about that so thanks for saving me from that Thanks!

shanghaismog · 05/05/2013 19:29

Fantastic!!!! Totally mental challenge rather than physical! Not a big fan of being submerged in water, so loads of the obstacles were major fear factor... Battered with some pretty spectacular bruises. Lots if fun though and we were more than prepared fitness wise. Electric eel was by far the worst, followed by arctic enema!

TheFallenNinja · 07/05/2013 06:55

It was awesome. Way better than last year. SmileSmileSmileSmile Loved it.

kaumana · 07/05/2013 20:57

Thanks guys for posting how you got on, I'm really looking forward to the Edinburgh one.

Though not so much the artic enema or anything involving height and jumping!

Clutching What type of shorts did you wear? I had planned to wear my Nike dry fit ones.

CooEeeEldridge · 09/05/2013 13:25

kaumana they are the Nike dry fit ones. However, I wore them for 2 runs since and no chaffing?! I think I'm going to wear them, but Vaseline up.. I'll let you know how I get on!!

shanghaismog · 09/05/2013 20:32

I wore 3/4 length dri fit capris and thought they were fab. Totally not waterlogged at all and a little bit of knee protection. Mind you I still have some amazingly spectacular bruises! Don't plan to wear anything short sleeved or legged for at least a week afterwards. We had booked a spa hotel for Monday as we're on hols and I looked like a car crash victim lying by the pool in my bikini... Never mind enjoying the sunshine.... Beyond embarrassing as it was so bad!

So just done the rat race half mucker, it was ace!!! LOVED the obstacles and camaraderie. I wore shorts, no chaffing but my knees are cut / bruised to pieces!!! Q for tough mudder people? Can there be much of a wait at 'big' obstacles? A couple of ones here there were 5-10 min waits, and for one (with 2 other path options) the main path was 30 mins!! Already looking to sign up to next one!!!

kaumana · 11/05/2013 21:43

Well done CooEee Wear your bruises with pride!

ClutchingMyPearls · 12/05/2013 21:38

Well done cooee!! We are signing up for rat race and spartan race too!

I shouldn't have worn the shirts they weren't Lycra type ones.

I didn't experience queuing at TM, longest wait was about a minute I think the others we got straight on with.

shanghaismog · 13/05/2013 18:26

No queuing for us either but we did get an early start time - 8.40am. Was funny to see everyone coming in looking nervous and us heading out with out orange headbands :)

CooEeeEldridge · 14/05/2013 09:10

Thanks guys! Definitely doing it again next year, and hopefully tough mudder if its in Kettering again. We had one hold up whilst on a very narrow path that an ambulance needed to get down (fair enough!) but there were a couple of bottle necks around a couple of obstacles, good point on waves shang we went at 1015 which is prime time I guess, early start next year!
