I have researched a bit about the type of sole a walking trainer should have etc but anyone else walk long distances that can give me (and Maureenmlove) some advice on the best trainers to buy?

We are training for a mountain walk next year so will need boots eventually but in the meantime we need trainers that will support our delicate feet and tootsies whilst pounding the streets and putting the world to rights!

Currently walking between 3 and 6 miles every other evening. It's a long road ahead!

I find merrells supportive and comfortable, and should be ideal as the weather becomes less kind as you can get goretex ones.

Good luck with the walking
