Toying with the idea. Have you done it? If so how fit were you, how much did you train etc, how did you organise it?

Hardly any training, did it over a week with a driver carrying our kit and stopping in pubs. If you're basically fit you can probably manage it (and the worst bit is through the Lakes so once that's over you might as well finish Wink)

Thanks for that, sounds promising. Will give it some serious thought

There are seveal c2c routes, we did it from whitehaven (i think) to newcastle. Did no training at all, struggled at times but did it over 4 days so we were ok, just took it slow. BUT we had dreadful weather, it absolutely poured with rain and i was really cold. We carried all our gear on paniers and stayed at b and b's, so i didnt have much extra clothing to out on. If you do it keep a close eye on the forceast!

DH did John O'Groats-Lands End over 12 days. Not enough training (hardly any!) but he was pretty fit anyway - he did it with a support car carrying stuff and stayed in b&b's. He absolutely loved it and says he would do it again. He screwed his knee really badly though, was in so much pain that he gripped the handles so hard he developed some kind of tendonitis, couldn't hold cutlery, tie laces etc for about a fortnight afterwards Sad. I think that was down to the bike not being set up properly for him though, more than the lack of training. He did mostly B roads by then way, wasn't interested in cycling fast roads with loads of traffic, although a few of these were unavoidable.
