How do I work out how high to set dd's handlebars? She's 3ft9. It's also killing my back holding her bike while she rides as she can't do it alone yet but she's a big 6 year old. Any tips on helping her to ride? Also are there such thing s as bike lessons?

I don't know about the handlebar height, but for teaching them to ride I googled and found a method that worked really quickly with DS1.

You need a gentle slope that the bike will just roll down. Start off getting them to go down it with feet just hanging down and trying to keep balance. DS1 had the balance part easily. We then moved onto putting feeet up onto pedals while going down the hill, then onto actaully pedalling at the bottom as the hill flattened out. Ir took him an hour to learn.

The hill we used was quite short so he didn't need to balance for long and didn't get too much speed up. I also used a grassy hill so he wouldn't get hurt if he fell.

Thanks for that advice Eglu. I'll try it.
