Ok I'm new to this running lark, am I doing it right?

I've got a Carl Lewis treadmill, second hand, but in good working order.

I've got my Asics running shoes and a Shock Absorber sports bra. Sorted.

I've had two sessions on it so far, consisting of;

4 mins walking @ 5mph then 1 min jog @ 7mph, repeated 4 times

Interspersed with;

3 mins walking @ 5mph with 2 mins jog at 7mph, about two times.

I do this for half an hour every other day, at the moment. I am about 14 stone and would like to be about ten stone in a year. I am calorie counting and keeping a food diary which so far has been an eye opener and pretty successful. The only thing I don't want have in the house are some scales so I probably need to get some cos I don't actually know what I weigh exactly. I had a smear test five months ago and the nurse weighed me then.

Does that sound like a good start? Obviously I hope to decrease the walking and increase the jogging as I get fitter.

Any exercise is good, so long as you get a sweat on and do it frequently and consistently! Good luck with your weight-loss :)

Yr doing exactly the right thing to start - fairly quickly you'll find that you can run for longer periods - then stick yr iPod on, take yr dog out running and......bliss!

Good for you.
Three years ago I was 13 st and would wheeze and cough just running a bath!! Now about to do my 5th 10k and planning a half marathon later in the year.
Just keep pushing yourself a bit more everytime. Make sure it hurts a bit. The old saying 'no gain without pain' is very true.
Keep going, dont give up .
YOU WILL DO IT
