Runners please help: Cortisone injection for tendinitis

Does anyone have experience of this?

Tendinitis on my hip just won't go away. I've been happily running at my best level ever last November when tendinitis appeared in my hip. It has slowly gotten better, with several relapses along the way when I walked a bit too much or went skiing.

I am booked for a cortisone injection on Monday, but there is so much conflicting information out there - it cures tendinitis, no it just provides temporary relief, it weakens the tendon so not worth it, etc.

Does anyone have experience of persistent tendinitis? When were you able to run again?

not in the leg/hip, but I had an injtction in my wrist for an rsi.
the relief is instant but you must not be tempted to run because you feel better. take a break of 2 week or so after injection and start again slowly.
also, you need to get to the source. is it from over training, wrong posture, wrong shoes?

Dr is pretty sure that it is because one leg is (was) shorter than the other. I saw an osteopath (chiropractor?) who worked his magic and now there is no noticeable difference.

I was thinking of waiting until after summer to start running again.

Has the pain in your wrist returned at all? I'm just wondering whether to believe the "Injection cures it" camp or "Only temporary relief" camp.

the pain never retuned, but for strenuous things like water-ski or horse riding I would wear a brace. was playing a lot of volleyball at that time didn't take it on again.

I'm not having it today, in the end, as I've managed to give myself frostbite from ice pack yesterday Blush

Thank you for your replies, though.
