I want fast, rocking, to help me keep going in the gym on the cross trainer or uphill on the treadmill. I can't run any more due to lumbar disc problem, and need motivation to keep going so I build a sweat and get fit again.

I have:

An awesome remix of 'somebody' by Gotye (normal version for warm up/cool down)
'stay too long' and 'recluse' by Plan B
'Badlands' by Bruce Springsteen (amazing to run to!)
'shameless' by Ani DiFranco
'life on a chain' by Peter Yorn, plus another couple of them, for first 10 min or so.

(I have more, but won't list them all, this is to give you a flavour of what I like)

I want some tracks by Queens of the Stone Age, Foofighters, nine inch nails, that kind of thing, but also some dance remixes, and other music which will give me good pace and can absorb me so i dont lose focus, that might have slower moments in it, long songs are good! I am open minded about what I listen to, but dont want Queen, Status Quo or that kind of cheese.

I used enjoy running to The Killers and Basement Jaxx.

PavlovtheCat · 12/04/2012 18:50

Oh yes, basement Jax, I used to run to their music. I will definitely add to the list, I think it's still on my iPod. Any particular Killers tracks you would recommend?

The Hot Fuss album is pretty good from start to finish. I just checked my running playlist and I also had a couple of Dizzee rascal tracks and Ray of Light by Madonna. Lust for Life by Iggy Pop once got me to the top of a very steep hill when I thought I couldn't go a step further!

40notTrendy · 12/04/2012 19:02

Oh, and Blue Monday! Not just coz it's long with the right tempo but because it's THE song from my 'yoof'!

PavlovtheCat · 12/04/2012 21:11

come on everyone, getting suggesting. I guess a whole album of basement jaxx is not a bad thing, but variety is needed to keep me going!

40 not a huge fan of madonna. as much as ray of light is an ok song, I would have to stop half way through ti skip it.

I dislike that last song. honestly. I hear little children singing it or versions of it and I shudder. but, then it might get me over that hill if I dont allow myself to turn it off, just so i get to the end of it Grin

CurrySpice · 12/04/2012 23:14
