2012 Olympics tickets -- what are you applying for?

I remember my dad gasping as he sent off a check of $2000 for the 1984 LA Olympics lottery.
We ended up with tickets to about 7 events... my goal this time is to apply for 12 events or so, see what we get.

What are you applying for, if anything?

Prices are INSANE!!

I just read that you have to buy a ticket for babies...mine won't even be 1 by the time the games come round so I either have to apply for one of the few "pay your age" child tickets or pay full price...just to take my baby!!! Anyone else heard this??

none im watching on tv, the prices are silly

I wanted to see the gymnastics but as it would cost exactly 3.84 billion pounds I decided against it and will watch as usual on telly. They can feck right off

There's a whole thread about it, Annie :).
Maybe MN is not the place to try to talk about tickets, because attendance in person really isn't a family friendly activity.

Feel like I've had a reality check,lol.

Talked to my dad last night, trying to book something we could see together (he lives on another continent, so needs to plan in advance).

Dad is sports mad (in every way you can think of) and fairly comfortable financially (spends several thousand/annum on leisure activities). He has attended Olympics in the past, would especially like to go to an Opening or Closing ceremony at London 2012.

He thinks the London prices are excessive, the session set up (mornings or evenings only) is silly, and it's simply much too early to try to plan anything. Grin

If someone like my dad thinks it's all silly money & impractical, I am beginning to agree that few relatively ordinary people will come(!)

The Paralympics should be much more affordable. I'd seriously consider attending those instead if it wasn't such a headache just getting to the venues at all.
