They've just started classes in my area. I was wondering

Are they suitable for fatties with high blood pressure

Do men do it? DH is interested too.

I've seen a couple of blokes at the class I go to. Might be something to do with all the bum and boob wiggling!!!
I'm not exactly fit and I'm 3 stone overweight but it's great fun and not a bit like a normal exercise class.
Try it, you won't regret it!! Smile

Our Zumba teacher was thrilled a couple of weeks ago as she had had (direct quote) "a straight man in class!" So perhaps not very common, but certainly not discouraged, at least around here. :)

Best thing ever.

I am very sporty and fit but still feel the benefit of the zumba workout in my midriff and hips. It's great exercise.

The class I go to is all women but we are definitley different shapes and sizes and abilities and ages.

Great laugh too.

I have been Zumba-ing since May last year and I can't get enough of it. It is the first exercise class I have gone to where I walk in like this Smile and leave like this Grin. As our teacher always says "if you can shake your shoulders, shake your bum/hips and smile, you are half way there"
About to start Zumba Tone classes this week, could be interesting but willing to give it a go.
The women/girls at our class range from 18 to 82 with every size, shape and size represented. My advice would be give it a go!!

sweetiesue · 09/02/2011 11:13

Sorry should say size, shape and fitness level represented.

I love Zumba, I really look forward to it every week and come out beaming (and sweaty!). I do gym/running as well but nothing touches Zumba for the feel good factor.

And yes, all age ranges and shapes and sizes there. No men in our class though.
I am so uncoordinated but noone minds and most other people are as well.

Class has just started locally but I bottled going last night, might try in half term instead. Will I feel awful next day and do you feel like you are exercising as such or dancing ?

DontCallMeBaby · 09/02/2011 17:47

LIZS, the class I go to there's very little that resembles conventional exercise - one of the dances has some star-jumps, and there's a cool-down at the end with some stretches, but other than those few bits it feels like dancing. I've never felt sore the next day - only thing I'd say is to make sure you take lots of water to drink, the one I go to is quite full-on and I got a wicked headache the first time I went, due to not drinking enough.

AnyoneForPimms · 10/02/2011 07:10

I go to 3 classes a week now and agree it has a good range of ages, shapes and sizes.
It's brilliant!!!
At each class there is around 50 to 60 people and it's a great atmosphere
