Where can I buy a ballet costume for my 4yo?

She has started ballet. She is the only one not in a costume!

I need leotard, tights, ballet shoes, and I am guessing a tutu? is this part of the leotard? although some girls have them with their leotards and some don't, not sure if it is needed or not.

I was told Sainsburys sell some? anywhere else?

Apart from Capezio (which are American sizings) ballet shoes are about one size smaller than normal shoes.

Ballet shoes are one and a half sizes bigger than the usual shoe size, I believe. But check with the shop, or the lady on the phone if you use Dance gear direct.

I also think it may be pssible to buy 2 sizes larger because as you tie them the size is fairly adjustable, the leather ones stretch too, so they ended up fitting DD through quite a few sizes.

ok, so today i bought the leotard and tights from a local dance shop, spent a bit but wanted it today, got simple ballet pink colour and shilke had kindly passing on the voile skirt and some ballet shoes. She went without today, due to her friend's mother agreeing to bring some for her to use, then we got stuck in traffic, she did not see us, her daughter for some reason told her that my DD had gone home sick, the granny called so they mitched as daughter sad DD was not going Grin logistics eh?! anyway, she went without and they were not at all bothered, two children had no shoes on.

She did much much better today. Hair up in a bun, looked the part. I wonder how much difference it had made to her? a little at least that is for sure.

Checked it with the ballet teacher who said it was fine, she said in this group, the little ones group she was not too strict with the rules, as long as they had a leotard/tights/shoes in pink and ideally a voile skirt she did not mind exactly what ones.

It is often a little less strict in the very young classes.

Thy use the skirts for excerces, preparation for certain arm posisitions I think.

Yes, DD said she had to have a skirt so she could practice some of the moves!

This a little scary! Dd goes weekly in Brussels and everything has come from H&M! And has Hello Kitty on! Do these scary places really exist in the UK?

porto* DD would wear all Hello Kitty stuff if she could have her way! She has lots of H&M hello kitty stuff! There are a couple of children in her class wearing little cute tutus which may be H&M but they are little ones, like 3yo (group is 3-5) so they can get away with it, the older ones, while not wearing matching outfits, all have proper stuff on. The older ones, in the class above do wear different stuff though, some of them have black outifts?

Blimey! And buns in hair too! I struggle to get out of bed on a Sunday morning and drink enough coffee to get me there in one piece!

luckily DD goes straight from school so I put her hair in a pony tail, and when there, freshen it and twirl it round quickly, it looks fine, but not a proper one! Grin

I am not anticipating her being a fabulous ballet dancer, she is a very rough and tumble kind of girl. But I think she will learn a lot from the discipline side of things, and learning to hold herself well, and maybe a bit of grace to help with other things she does. If she does well, great, if not, then she has a nice little fancy dress outfit!!

I spent a lot of time searching for the best prices. But I still think the best variety and often the best deals are on Amazon: Amazon
