I applied a while ago, and got put on the reserve list for a well known charity. I really really wanted to do it, and started running in october. Got up to about 4 miles, at 10 min/mile pace found it ok-ish. Then was told there were no places so stopped, thinking maybe I'll go for edinbrugh, or VLM next year.

Anyway out of blue today get a phone call as someone has dropped out.

It would mean a lot to me to do it for this particular charity, and want to raise as much doss as possible, but also dont want to walk it, and want to get round it in one piece, preferably in about 4 and half hours.

So, 12 weeks to go.

Is this impossible/stupid/crazy?
Has anyone done it?
aarrgh

Am active and can probably still do 3 miles, but no more at the moment.

Thanks!

If you aim for a run/walk strategy you could probably manage it, I think.

If your aim is to raise money and awareness for the charity, and running all the way is not such a goal, then you should go for it!!

It wouldn't be easy, just build up the miles slowly, aim for at least 3 runs a week, maybe 4, run/walk throughout rather than just when you are tired....that's what I have read anywayBlush

Good luckSmile

Yes. It's madness. Give the place up to someone who might actually stand a chance of finishing it.

madness
I would not even train for a half marathon in 12 weeks from your position

You risk injuring yourself and are highly likely not to make it round

Hmmm thanks

Got up to 10 miles in a month from scratch before I was pregnant so think a half would be do-able.

It's very annoying. If they had told me that the last date I could be offered a place on the reserve list was today I would still be in training.

Looks like Edinburgh it is then.

No sorry am talking rubbish. Was 10km on the treadmill( easier) which took about an hour. And was generally fitter back then I suppose but new to running.

Anyway thanks all will decline place and think about Edinburgh. Such a shame.
