DD wants to run with me - HELP!!

What do I do, I mean I am not super fast, only do about 8 min miles but she doesn't run at all, does swimming lessons, sport at school and lots of dog walking and bike riding.

She wants to start as she sees me doing it a lot and I would really like to do this with her so we can do something together that isn;t expensive, she likes shopping and having her nails done when I go but I can't afford for that to be our major bonding time!

So how do we start, how quickly and how far should I expect her to be able to go?

How old is she?

Can't she ride her bike while you run? That's what my 6 year old does?

My ds has recently started running, he runs with others who have a slower pace and I join them once a week (ds is now onto twice a week). A slower pace once a week (or more) doesn't upset anything and you can pick up your pace at a different session.

For a beginner, keep distance short, for first week or so half an hour (which may include walking a little) might be enough.

As jamaisjedors said, your dd could go on bike - as a pace setter Grin.

You could always take her out for a jog around the block, and treat it as an easy run for you. (you might need to ease up on the 8 mins miling for her to start with!) Some running clubs have childrens sections, and these are a good place to start as they can give advice on how much they should be doing.
