Question about Kettlebells

A bit last minute I know but in a moment of inspiration, I realised my DH would absolutely love to have some kettlebells for Xmas.

The information I've found suggests an average man should be able to start out with a 16kg KB and a strong man should be able start with 20kg.

DH always tries to push himself in his workouts, which is why I'm considering buying him 1x16kg and 1x20kg KB.

My question is, is it imperative to have 2 KBs that are the same weight? If I go ahead with my plan to buy 2 KBs of different weights, will this limit him in terms of the exercises he can perform?

I would be grateful for any hints and tips anyone may have.

buy two kettle bells of different weights - otherwise he will have two of one thing - almost but not quite, it is moraml to use one at a time and for different things
