Want to excercise, don't want to loose weight...

Hi!

I am wanting to get back into exercising after not really doing any for about a year and a half. I haven't been doing any because I was pregnant and had SPD - all better now - and also I have lost so much weight since being pregnant I was worried about loosing more if I exercised. But I do miss it and find that my mental health is better if I am doing some form of exercise.

I am better with classes or the gym, rather than going out for runs/walks as it is motivation to go out and see other 'grown-ups', rather than go out by myself in the rain/dark evenings!!

I wondered if anyone could recommend some classes or gym exercises that would get my heart pumping, tone me up a bit, but not make me loose weight. I really need to build up some muscle tone as I seem to have lost some both while I was pregnant due to bad morning sickness, and since then as the weight has fallen off.

Also, do you think it would be a good idea to see a dietitian along side this or would the gym be able to help with dietary advice too?

Many thanks Smile

If you're doing more exercise without putting more food in, you're going to lose weight. Thus is physics. BUT the gym would definitely be ablre to help you with this, they are used to building up skinny men and the same principles apply. Be prepared to eat more than you are used to.

I think you need some weight / resistance training

I am hoping that my appetite will increase as I start to exercise. I think that is partly my problem, that I am in with 2 pre-schoolers and not working up much of an appetite!!

I'll make some enquiries at the gym and see if the seem any good!!

Thanks!
