Islabikes - Cnoc 16 or Beinn 20?

DD has outgrown her Rothan, will be 4 in mid Oct, and is desperately keen on a pedal bike. She's tall, and she's just above the min size for the cnoc just now, I'm wondering if she'll outgrow it too soon. I prefer the look of the cnoc for her just now - the Beinn looks too grown up! - but it's a lot of money. It will get passed down to ds, and hopefully sold at the end.

I'm thinking that the cnoc, if well cared for, will have decent resale value anyway, and so I wouldn't be losing too much money, but am not sure. Any experiences?

Call Isla at Islabikes - she's incredibly helpful and wants to make sure you get the right one

but I suspect she'll say the Cnoc - partly because the Beinn's got gears and a just-turned 4 year old will be highly unlikely to be able to use them properly

dd got about 18 months out of her cnoc and it was really easy to sell on - she's now riding a Beinn 24 which has been through both her brothers and is still perfect

Good idea - I spoke to her when whe got the Rothan. Did your dd go straight from a Cnoc 16 to the Beinn 24?

I had a similar decision - I bought DS a bike for his 4th bday (he is extremely tall) and I phoned islabikes and they advised me to get him the cnoc16 as the Beinn was too grown up for a child of 4, despite his vast height.

Thanks. I think it will sell on ok anyway, and the Beinn does look too grown up.

If it helps our dd had a cnoc 16 at Easter. Then ( rather annoyingly ) had a growth spurt and we have just bought a beinn 20 small for her - 4 months later!!! BUT we were able to sell the cnoc on ebay for £45 short of the price we originally paid for it as they are very sought after.

We went to the islabikes openday and dd tried the cnoc and the beinn... but the beinn was a bit too grown up for her.

That's really helpful, thanks.
