What are you doing to loose weight? I want to loose 7pounds...

I've just worked out the reason why I have not lost weight after months of exercise is because I have been doing alot of resistance work.

I'm going to start doing much more cardio, so hoping for quick results. But I do not really want to chnage my diet.

Just wondering what type of exercise everyone else is doing? And how often?

I am doing the 30 day shred DVD every day (AMAZING!), and couch to 5k as well, so running every other day.

I have also stopped drinking.

Am losing weight rapidly.

80% diet and 20% workout - though resistance should have you lossing weight - try adding weights

But wothout changing what you eat and how much you eat - you may well stay the same

nannynick · 01/08/2010 18:43

I'm currently doing:
1 hour with personal trainer - so resistance and cardio.
BodyPump - two sessions at least - so resistance mostly I think.
BodyVive - one session - so mostly cardio

I've currently plateaued weight wise. Think I've been converting fat to muscle, so just shifting the weight rather than losing it.

Should really start to focus on diet but when I try to cut back on things, I then find I'm hungry.

ivykaty44 · 01/08/2010 21:30

what do you eat post work out?

Are you going home and eating protien and carbs - do you train before a meal time?

I try to train before a meal - then have the meal early or drink milk shake to get the protien carbs straight into me

Look at what you are eating - not reducing and don't do low cal or fat either

nannynick · 01/08/2010 21:36

I usually have Chicken with Rice or Potato. Sometimes just chicken on it's own. Yes, I tend to train prior to a meal time... on Mondays it's before Lunch... other days it's often before evening meal.

Not sure I could stomach those protein shakes, they look fowl.

ivykaty44 · 01/08/2010 21:48

nah - protien shkes wasn't really where I was heading

but try changing your trianing - your body gets used to what you are doing and what is expected - so will conserve energy (our bodies are very clever) so change around what you do

try changing the food you eat after -def have milk after training in the first 30 minutes

somthing like a stir fry or steak and new pots

newstart2010 · 01/08/2010 22:05

nannynick - i am same as you, if i cut down i get hungry, esp when i am exercising more.

ivykaty - I like exercising in the morning, so before workout have 2 toast and peanut butter.

After workout feel quite drained sometimes and feel a ptotien shake would really help but they seem to have alot of cals.

I normally have a sandwich and fruit or sometime chocolate

then main meal in the evening.

I think i need to eat main meal at lunch time, but that is difficult as cooking for dp.

I also need to stop eating junk, but as ivykaty said i do not want to reduce fat etc as i know i will not keep it up.

I want an appetite supressant. I tried fat metaboliser before and started feeling ill so i'm not sure if it was them that made me feel sickly or something else.

I did eat less food but more often while taking those.

My personal trainer says I should aim to have 6 meals a day... small meals, so 1/2 a chicken breast with 2 tablespoons of cooked rice kind of size. Fitting 6 meals into my schedule is hard though, especially on a working day. Does anyone do the 6 meals a day thing?

newstart - I used to be a chocoholic. I've cut down to one box a month. Really need to cut completely I know but I do still like chocolate.

ivykaty44 · 01/08/2010 22:45

try 70% chocolate instead - make it last a fortnight

I do breakfast then mid morning snack - half a sanwhich or nuts and fruit same for afternoon snack

newstart2010 · 06/08/2010 00:14

Do any of you use a protein shake to help rcovery after working out? Or as meal replacement?

I'm thinking of trying diet fuel.

LostGirl · 06/08/2010 16:36

I use a protein drink post workout, but that is as an additional snack, definitely not a meal replacement, so on the days I workout I have three meals, two snacks, plus the protein shake post workout.

newstart2010 · 08/08/2010 12:39

what protein shake do you use? I've been looking at diet fuel shake but have seen bad reviews about their tablets for loosing weight.

I use maximuscle promax post workout with a banana so my body get carbs and protein when it can use it most effectively. If you are feeling weak etc maybe you need to look at what you are eating before your workout as well as after it. Are you eating enough in the first place?
