Good King BBBBaBoris looked out,
on the Port of Dover,
There the shit lay round about,
Deep around the stopover;
Brightly shone the moon that night,
Tho’ the frost was cruel,
When a poor man came in sight,
Delivering stuff for Yule.

“Bugger SAGE and stand by me,
We've all stuff that needs selling,
Yonder peasant, who is he?
Where and what his dwelling?”
“Sire, he lives a good league hence,
The other side the EU;
Though relations maybe tense,
He's trying to get goods through.”

“Oh god I need another wine,
I have many crisis to consider:
We must tell them its all fine,
I must not be seen to dither.”
SAGE and monarch, forth they went,
forth they went together;
Through the nation's sad lament
and really crappy weather.

“Sire, our plight is darker now,
And the covid transmission stronger;
Fails my heart, I know not how;
To keep Tier 2 much longer.”
“Soon we can drop their wage.
And treat them all more coldly
In Britain's new chrony age
A time to rob more boldly.”

In their master’s steps they trod,
On the quest to get minted;
Each and every last sod
Needs to be fingerprinted.
Therefore, Christian men, be sure,
DWP claimants are processing,
Ye who now will bless the poor,
God its all so depressing.

Thanks @HesterThrale, very useful link 👍

HappyWinter · 23/12/2020 21:56

@HannibalHayes

I'm really looking forward to seeing which other EU countries are looking at this and deciding to leave as well. Like all the Brexshittiers were telling us they would...
Oh yes, it has gone very quiet on that front. I think our mess has put any other country off leaving. Silver lining?
bornatXmastobequiet · 23/12/2020 21:56

Thanks those who posted the link to Khalsa Aid.

Peregrina · 23/12/2020 21:56

And of course Fail to Prepare is to Prepare to Fail.

I wonder if they taught Johnson that at either Eton or Balliol?

bornatXmastobequiet · 23/12/2020 22:01

That’s almost poetry, Peregrina.

Peregrina · 23/12/2020 22:03

I am not being original there! I forget though who told me it.

TatianaBis · 23/12/2020 22:09

Of course we shouldn’t have to be donating, the government should be organising food for the lorry drivers.

bornatXmastobequiet · 23/12/2020 22:09

Ah maybe it seemed a little familiar. But most apposite!

mrslaughan · 23/12/2020 22:15

So apparently our friends in the ERG are preparing to reconvene their "star chamber" to review any deal , led by the illustrious and highly successful 🤥 ......Bill Cash

I mean what a bunch of deluded c*nts.....

HappyWinter · 23/12/2020 22:19

The government have all the forward planning of a goldfish. I've never known anything like it, it's appalling. I've never felt this way with any other government. No one is in charge.

Food shortages, Brexit and COVID-19: how Britain’s problems converged at Christmas

Sing along.

LucyfurMorningstar · 23/12/2020 22:27

www.bbc.co.uk/news/england/kent
14:07 Today.

A Government spokesperson said:“We are working tirelessly to provide support to hauliers awaiting testing at Manston and the M20.

“Free food and water is being provided to all, and there are 12 food trucks at Manston with eight more arriving today.

"More than 200 toilets are in place at Manston, with toilets every kilometre on the M20 between junctions 10a-11.”

UltimateFoole · 23/12/2020 22:41

Some fish and chip shops in Dover are taking donations to pay for fish suppers for lorry drivers. Many Catholic countries do fish on Christmas Eve as it's marked as a fast day. Details in tweet below.

TheHateIsNotGood · 23/12/2020 22:46

We agree on at least 3 things LQ:

HGV Drivers are vital and deserve lotsa respect for what they do no matter what country they live in.

That THING is quite cool.

And that the UK is "nadgered".

Best wishes
THING

wewereliars · 23/12/2020 22:54

There are a couple of just giving pages in respect of the stranded lorry drivers FYI

Pan2 · 23/12/2020 23:19

I am imagining somewhere a continental lorry driver is being offered a tray of food..and they reply:
"It's English food? Err..thanks but... I'll see how I go..".Grin

Pan2 · 23/12/2020 23:22

ERG Star Chamber Pot more like..

Apileofballyhoo · 24/12/2020 01:31

Fail to Prepare is to Prepare to Fail

Roy Keane is where I first heard it after Saipan. Doubt it's original to him though. Maybe Alex Ferguson was fond of saying it?

I'm so very sorry for everything that's happening in the UK. Glad you all have your stocks in.

veeeeh · 24/12/2020 01:36

Oh well you know, the die hard Brexiteers will blame Macron, and call him immature since he did a volte face today and will let the drivers all in to traverse Europe. With neg tests though. From the UK side testing side though not France's problem. Good enough kicking for UK, but feel for the lorry drivers just the same.

I get the feeling it was an experiment.

A shot across the bows to show us what could happen if those pesky strike loving Unions in France decide to do this again for 48 hours.

Sostenueto · 24/12/2020 06:02

Announcement this morning that a deal has been made with EU. The cabinet was called in the early hours.
Now how long before bojo renages on it?

Sostenueto · 24/12/2020 06:10

All staged and how on Earth is Parliament supposed to scrutinise deal b4 New Year's Eve when they won't call Parliament back till Wednesday?

veeeeh · 24/12/2020 06:37

As long as ERG do not object it is tally ho now.

I think this is great, but so sad that it took 4+ years to achieve. Many peoples' eyes are off the ball at this time of year, or they orfamily are ill, or they are worried about their kids schooling, etc.

Wonder if it is Trade Only, and FOM is gone anyway, I suppose it is, otherwise, just forget about it. I do regret the power the ERG had all along really in these negotiations. What was the FKN point?

Was inevitable, UK needs EU more that other way around!

Mistigri · 24/12/2020 07:07

The ERG will object but who cares? Brexit newspapers will mostly line up behind this and Johnson doesn't need the ERG votes in parliament.

Based on Louise's post on here the other day, die hard Brexiters will hate the deal but at this point, I doubt anyone cares.

If I am right, it will be amazing to watch them turn on a deal (and a PM) that will give them almost everything they dreamed of in their most vivid 2016 wet dreams, and more.

RedToothBrush · 24/12/2020 07:09

You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Brexit Clause is coming to town

Mistigri · 24/12/2020 07:10

I think this is great

It's a good outcome - for the EU.

For the U.K. it's a very thin deal and the relief at achieving it will distract from the preparations which must be implemented in (counts) four and a half working days.
