People keep saying this on my FB page-is it actually true?

I do quite like some of the things the Lib Dems say, but don’t want Boris. In my constituency, it’s true blue and LD have traditionally done pretty badly so it’s pointless voting them, whereas Labour seems to be at least a vaguely viable alternative option so I’ll probably do that.

Or does it very much depend on each area?

It depends on your constituency. In your case, Labour is the obvious choice if you want to unseat the Tory.

If you want to vote "against Boris" then for most constituencies either your vote is largely irrelevant (safe seat) or there is good agreement across the tactical voting websites.

There are some constituencies where Labour have traditionally come second but are unlikely to win because they would have to take Remain Tory votes to do so. This is why in a small minority of constituencies the LDs could potentially come from third place to win the seat.

This is a momentum thing - trying to maximise the labour vote. In my area, the choice is only between LD and Conservative.

Last time the labour candidate got less than 2000 votes, so I'm treating any comments about how voting for my sitting LD MP is a vote for Boris with the contempt they deserve.

I want to vote labour but will vote Lib Dem, tho this is quite a safe Tory seat (tho was LD til about 10 years ago). Our Tory MP is a Remainer, as is the area (54%).

Those facts will get me to vote LD.

I am not fond of Jo Swinson, nor of their gender nonsense, but the LDs might yet get to be king makers, again.

I wonder whether what people usually vote for in an area will be the case this time. Brexit will probably have an influence too, surely, which will perhaps change usual votes?

@fedup21 Boris has refused to do it with Farage too but I don't think anyone will easily win this election without some kind of coalition.

I really like Jo Swindon but she hasn't any experience of govt and neither do most of the party. I can't see her as PM.
I would rather shoot myself in the face than vote for Corbyn.
Boris has led the country into a complete mess by lying about Brexit before the referendum. Though I am surprised that he has led well since becoming PM. I hate the fact that he's hand in glove with Trump.

In what way has Boris led well? He's hardly been there. Firstly there was the summer recess, then as soon as he got back he illegally prorogued Parliament. He's done I think, one or two PMQs. As for leading, where has he been when Yorkshire got flooded? He wasn't on the first train up, but showed up a week later.

SunsetBoulevard3 From your post it seems the two parties you don't want to vote for are Labour and the Tories, so the Lib Dems seem the obvious choice. Swinson won't be PM but she will have influence.

I have to say though, I really don't understand why people feel such strong hatred for Corbyn. Comments like 'I'd rather shoot myself in the face than vote for him' baffle me. I get that people may disagree with him politically, but the vitriol is incredible. The media really have convinced people he's the second coming of Stalin, when actually he's not away from a lot of major social democratic parties in Europe.

LibDems are refusing to work with any party to get legislation done.

Just a few problems... none of those claims is true. But are things that many believe. (sigh)

I’m a Lib Dem supporter who lives in one of the safest Tory seats in the Midlands. I could never vote Tory, obviously. I have voted tactically for Labour in the past, but I can’t vote for Corbyn or for a party that is not 100% committed to stopping Brexit, so I will vote Lib Dem this time, despite the party being likely to finish third.

If I lived in a genuine Tory / Labour marginal, I would be in a very difficult position, like many other strong Remainers.

That is the opinion of the vast majority of Labour MPs, many of whom have known and worked with Corbyn for decades. This is why 81% of them voted ‘no confidences in him in June 2016.

Yes Age, but if you read my post again, my point is that I don't understand the level of vitriol directed at him. Especially in contrast to the dangerous buffoon that currently holds the position of PM.

I am in a Tory constituency that always is conservative. I was quite surprised that labour always come 2nd here and am a natural labour supporter so am.happy to be able to vote for them, and the tactical sites are saying vote that way too so all good. I think the labour position is a good one. It gives there a chance for the rift in the country to heal. Whilst I want revoke, I think if lib dem got in it would just be more years of discontent. And remember, you vote for your local MP, not the leader. Under the conservatives May was voted in and we now have BJ so just because you vote labour doesnt necessarily mean it will stay Corbyn forever.

It may as well be, Jojo has voted with the Tory whip more times than Boris himself has...and Michael bloody Gove.

Corbyns pipe dream manifesto of ‘free broadband for all’ etc has got me rolling my eyes and I think that his response to Brexit has been ridiculous.

I don’t trust Lib Dem’s after the coalition debacle

Greens is a wasted vote here too. We’re a Tory stronghold and have been for the last 10 years. We have a new Lib Dem candidate who I believe is best for the area and could do very well but do I risk voting for him over labour who should in theory be the best contender?

I can’t not vote but there’s no one to really vote for!

@oddshoesoddsocks Have you considered the option of a spoiled ballot? If there isn't anyone you like and you're in a stronghold, then crossing a box doesn't sound like a sensible option.
