Brexit

Bank Holiday on November 1

Apparently a new bank holiday is being planned for Nov 1 , first to let Brexit day 2019 be a day when all can re-set and get used to the new way of doing things.

But secondly it's a great new day - perhaps it can become an annual tradition - celebrated as the UK's new Independence Day! Champagne 🍾 🇬🇧

But you're in Australia so is it not business as usual for you?

Oh and it isn't a bank holiday being proposed, it's keeping the banks shut so there won't be a run on them. HTH.

wowfudge · 09/08/2019 11:12

I hope not. For personal reasons I would not want to be celebrating this shower of shit on that particular day. There's nothing to celebrate about it.

Janista · 09/08/2019 11:13

I'll actually be celebrating from New York as have a holiday planned there on the big day.

Janista - There isn't going to be a Bank Holiday on 1st November, it was just a suggestion that's all

ConorMcGregorsChin · 09/08/2019 11:29

I think Janista has been having great fun for a long time now, just thinking of ways to wind us up.
Not in the manner that would perhaps get you banned. But in a way that if you knew them in real life, they irritate you so much you'd have them blocked on social media.

@Janista

Sure, Jan 😆

We leave it to you to be nowhere near the UK when the fun begins!
And there I thought a true patriot would be in the beloved country to celebrate? No? Not even Brexit can entice you back, huh? 😂
Go figure!

Cohle · 09/08/2019 11:39

Is it fuck.

Janista · 09/08/2019 11:39

Seriously - just because someone is excited about Brexit and specifically looking forward to the date they leave - it doesn't mean it's a wind up.

Plenty have patiently waited decades to leave the EU and take back control 🇬🇧

You can't deny it's a historic moment which MILLIONS will celebrate wildly in the streets across the globe.

Jesus. Take back control. Who actually believes this shit.

MountainDweller · 09/08/2019 11:44

Ironically 1 November (All Saints Day) is a bank holiday in much of Europe.

Surely it would be unpatriotic to join in such European shenanigans when the U.K. is supposed to be taking back control Hmm

Screamanger · 09/08/2019 11:44

If it happens it should just be called zero hour, and at dawn the queen should announce “May the odds forever be in your favor”.

Cohle · 09/08/2019 11:44

No but pretending an official bank holiday is being planned, is.

I've already heard of a few Brexit parties being planned for Oct 31....this will become a big thing.

OP posts:
Jason118 · 09/08/2019 11:46

And, having done that, do it some more.

Motherof3Dragons · 09/08/2019 11:46

I wasn‘t really sure before but now I am 100% convinced that Janista is in fact a comedy act! 😆

Jason118 · 09/08/2019 11:48

Of course he is and he's confusing brexit with Halloween parties, bless.

SeaViewBliss · 09/08/2019 11:51

They’re going to be fucking disappointed then aren’t they?

Knob.

New independence day? The UK doesn't have a current independence day. People celebrate being independent from the UK...

Nov. 1 isn't going to be a bank holiday and 31st Oct - 2nd Nov is already a religious and/or cultural holiday for a big chunk of the world so yes, there will be a lot of parties at that time. Maybe I can add little Union Jack hats to the skeletons...

Janista · 09/08/2019 12:48

Smile Are people who support leaving now trolls? Seriously - if you only spend time with those of the same opinions you miss out.

The majority of voters taking part in the referendum voted to leave the EU for many reasons and are happy to leave, most of them contented to leave with no deal. And they will, in their millions, be celebrating 🥳 on Oct 31.

The fact that 90% on this thread section voted remain and are having an session of panking and mutually winding each other up about imaginary shortages of goods and wailing is just bizarre.

People need to wake up to the opportunities and make the most of it, rather than doing the country down.

Just shouting "fuck off" "thick" and "racist" is not an argument.

The hysteria taking hold of some here is akin to that after Diana died - self reinforcing brainwashing and fearmongering and it has clearly taken its toll on some.

I would love to know what a guy living in Australia is doing on a British parenting website. There has got to be a good reason why he wants to mansplain Brexit to all of us.

Mistigri · 09/08/2019 12:54

Incidentally the bank holiday was proposed to help reduce market disruption. Which kind of tells you what the government really thinks about Brexit.

(This is why we won't be leaving on 31/10. Gonna be hilarious if the anti-elite Brexiters stock up on anti-elite champers and then Blowjob "reluctantly" agrees to another A50 extension).
