Next week we will have a new PM. He will be called Boris Johnson unless something very odd has happened.

His first 72 hours will be 'interesting' especially if today's events are anything to go by.

His Cabinet is sure to be a horror show. It was noticable who abstained today - they don't think they will be in a Johnson Cabinet and clearly don't want to be.

To move forward Johnson must be able to survive a rebellion and a Queen's speech before now and 31st October.

And be able to unit his party in order to find a way forward.

And whilst parliament has voted to block proroguing parliament, it could still be dissolved if there is a vote of no confidence.

And what happens if Johnson loses a vote? Will he manage to become PM? Will there be a GE.

All the signs are that next week is going to be a hell of a ride.

Enjoy your weekend.

We are queuing for an outdoor pool. We've been waiting over an hour and unlikely to get in before we need to head back on the train for the school run. I also have a horrible sinus headache. I blame boris.

SistemaAddict · 23/07/2019 11:17

Whisky2014 I'd pee my pants laughing if that happened Grin

StripeyChina · 23/07/2019 11:18

Peregrina
I honestly hope BJ IS held to account for his actions.
But he is a privileged white male, so he won't be.
I genuinely feel sick.

StripeyChina · 23/07/2019 11:25

Hester YES :(

I agree too that they will vote through the same thing for BJ that they rejected from TM, simply because she was not 'clubbable' enough.

Jux · 23/07/2019 11:26

BJ reminds me a little of the Robert deNro character in Stardust. He chooses competent, even talented people who scurry around behind the scenes making things work. The ability to choose good officers to do the actual work is not to be sniffed at.

Sorry for typos, keyboard is crap in ipAd.

LouiseCollins28 · 23/07/2019 11:29

I could start telling you I didn't support Boris Johnson before the man starts speaking (assuming he's actually won!) I'd have been voting for Jeremy Hunt, no question had I a vote in the contest.

However, we are where we are, so lets see what the winner (whoever it is) says this morning and does in the coming days and weeks.

StripeyChina · 23/07/2019 11:33

Jux that's his only chance, to arrange competency in his deputies whilst he ShowBoats. But he was an awful Foreign Sec and an awful Mayor of London so - Bof.

Whisky2014 · 23/07/2019 11:36

Theresa May got some jewellery and a handbag as her leaving gift.
I'd have wanted a bottle of whisky!

Whisky2014 · 23/07/2019 11:45

Confusion over BJ and whether he has actually arrived...
Arse.

I'm finding out from you lot! Can't face the telly!

Whisky2014 · 23/07/2019 11:51

Sky think he went through the back door.

tobee · 23/07/2019 11:51

Double arse

QueenMabby · 23/07/2019 11:52

Tobee - me too!

onalongsabbatical · 23/07/2019 11:53

I think it's running late because he's run away...ha ha ha ha ha!

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 23/07/2019 11:53

Honestly I can see this being hunt. All the fan fayre of BJ getting it, only for hunt to be announced.

That would give me a laugh. Wouldn’t it be even more satisfying if he won the leadership but couldn’t command the confidence to be made PM? That would be torture for him.

tobee · 23/07/2019 11:54

Yes please ona

onalongsabbatical · 23/07/2019 11:56

...or spontaneously combusted!

Even better ona!

Clavinova · 23/07/2019 11:58

But he was...an awful Mayor of London

Only 29% of Londoners agree with you - 52% thought he did a good job as mayor;

yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/articles-reports/2016/05/05/mayor-boris-public-verdict

I don't mind either Hunt or Johnson - the only candidates I didn't like at all were Rory Stewart and Esther McVey.

tobee · 23/07/2019 11:58

Why do they have to have stupid speeches? It's worse than Strictly!
