Road Block Protests Planned.

Has anyone else seen the national planned pro-brexit road block protests?

I'm slightly concerned about this if they do pull it off. I am going to be stuck in traffic for hours!

There are also plans for fishermen to block shipping ports.

What has the nation come to, what utter chaos :(

Sounds about right.

Remain voters sign a petition and organise a peaceful march.

Leave voters try and cause as much disruption as possible to people who are simply going about their day.

Doubletrouble99 · 22/03/2019 12:36

Obviously there are some unsavoury characters organizing this protest. If they haven't got it sanctioned so it will be an offence to deliberately hold up traffic intentionally. This is not France where the police ignore such protests.
But they really seem to have come up with a great way of initiating project fear, back onto the remainers! They have managed to get employers to take it seriously and people are rearranging their day, just in case!
Just so you are all quite clear, I am a very moderate conservative voter and have even voted Lib dem in the past but neither I nor any other leave voter I know are changing their minds right now. We are hardening and just want to got out now.

Since the UK is one of the countries most covered by CCTV any 'wrongdoing' will be at least seen if not recorded.

sluj · 22/03/2019 12:50

Don't you think the "peaceful" March in London will cause disruption?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2019 12:53

People really do not need to give up plans for the People's Vote march. If anyone is feeling cowed by a few vague letters and a whole load of improbable conjecture to local newspapers, then please can they let the coach organisers know so they can reallocate tickets. I can't believe people scare so easily. It's just a few dickheads who make themselves seem far bigger than they are through the power of social media.

twofingerstoEverything · 22/03/2019 12:55

what do you think a gang of far right activist with a bus load of sitting ducks are going to do, wave at the bus? No they are going to hurl bricks and shit at it.
Stop catastrophising. Your friends sound like they'd be better off never leaving home (what happens if we get run over/involved in a terrorist attack/struck by lightning...)

Is your intention to discourage people from marching on Saturday?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2019 13:01

You never know it might be like the Wacky Races with Dick Dastardly and Muttley trying to stop Penelope Pitstop from reaching London. Confused

TalkinPaece · 22/03/2019 13:08

Considering that Nigel Farage has given up on his own Leave means Leave march
I'm taking the lorry "protest" with a MASSIVE pinch of salt.

And still looking forward to London tomorrow Smile

CoachBombay · 22/03/2019 13:17

Oh no March for a people's vote by all means do.

But if they pull off mass disruptions, you never know what could happen.

I'm noticing on my social media, I am from a Labour stronghold hold hundreds of moderate voters sharing the blockade events and agreeing with it. The people's march bus stop has been named for tomorrow and people are saying they will block it in...

Is this the outcome of dividing a nation with a stupid referendum and then failing to deliver it's result. I'm worried and concerned for what the next few weeks hold.

Doubletrouble99 · 22/03/2019 13:19

NF was only ever going to do the first day or two. So he hasn't 'given up'!

bellinisurge · 22/03/2019 13:21

People trying to stop a lawful protest (which is what the march tomorrow is) will find themselves in deep shit . They may want to go to prison for their beliefs and all that jazz but the best they can hope for afterwards is being lauded by UKIP/EDL and then being ignored as last year's news.

bellinisurge · 22/03/2019 13:22

@Doubletrouble99 , happily taking the money off people who paid him to go on the "March"

CoachBombay · 22/03/2019 13:26

But of you've already been to prison for assault, GBH, arson...what's another line to your criminal record?

I honest can't believe we have reached this point as a once tolerant and welcoming nation. The bitter divide is about to burst open at the seams and flood with nothing but anger, violence and chaos.

It only takes one person to kill another. We've seen it before in this climate of political chaos and division, we will see it again I'm sure.

OP posts:
MrPan · 22/03/2019 13:29

OP, you're beginning to sound like a provocateur....commencing a thread such as this, on a tenuous connection, unstated in your post, but actively anticipating a chaos.

You're looking a bit suspicious.

HumblePi · 22/03/2019 13:30

CoachBombay
I agree re the bitter divide in the country.
If we do end up staying in I think it will cause a complete breakdown in civilised society, as those who voted Leave would presume they would never get another in/out vote. Potentially unleashing who knows what?

CoachBombay · 22/03/2019 13:32

I've been here a while, I have a long posting history, so not a troll.

But can you not all see, how this will end? Like I said earlier, I'm anxious very anxious about the weeks to come. It could be the fact I have PTSD that's causing the anxiety, but I really can't help it.

I know lots will say it will come to nothing, it will fall flat on its face and I hope it does, because the what if, if they do succeed and tempers continue to mount? What will happen. What will happen if two sides collide in parliament Square with one side being nothing but far right hooligans?

TalkinPaece · 22/03/2019 13:32

Coachbombay
I can see no links at all about blocking bus stops
and I first heard about the lorries a couple of days ago
you are making it all up

HumblePi · 22/03/2019 13:35

According to the Lancashire Post and others it's correct.

CoachBombay · 22/03/2019 13:39

I'm honestly not...

Road Block Protests Planned.

CardinalSin · 22/03/2019 13:41

NF and his cronies have repeatedly shown themselves to be all mouth and no trousers, so I expect there will be a couple of instances and the rest will be just hot air as per usual.

ilovesooty · 22/03/2019 13:45

I think if I were so prone to catastrophising I'd get off social media.

SalrycLuxx · 22/03/2019 13:57

Would these be the hauliers that are screwed if we have hard Brexit because they haven’t enough permits to operate across border? They’d be better off getting on with their deliveries, and will find themselves in trouble if they mAke their own deliveries late.

Most will ignore this ridiculousness (should it occur at all). If anyone does join in it’ll be like the March for Leave - a damp squib.

jasjas1973 · 22/03/2019 14:10

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesperson added: "The police will support Highways England who are responsible for keeping our road networks moving

"We will also deal with any unlawful obstruction or any motoring offences as they become apparent."

Being a dick with your lorry means you won't be a lorry driver for long.

On the other hand 10s of 1000s of people held up in queues by fat & rather silly lorry drivers, is hardly going to endear brexit to the masses.

Brexitiers have to accept that democracy is a dynamic thing and the public mood has changed against brexit.... if you doubt that, campaign for a PV and put it to the test? no i though not.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/03/2019 14:22

Shall we see what happens. Try not to worry Coach. I honestly don't think they will get very far with this, just a few blowhards.

CoachBombay · 22/03/2019 15:02

I really hope they won't get far, and it turns out to be as useful as a fart in a thunderstorm of I'm honest.

I think what concerns me most is what I previously thought to be calm measured people of moderate voting standards in my office, local shops, local social media pages agreeing with this action!

It may well be that as a whole general public minds have changed, and I hope the people's vote march goes ahead without issue.

But I have a gut wrenching feeling that the far right loonies are gearing up to do something entirely immoral and unlawful :(
