A thread for sharing details of our stashes: what we have, what we need, good hiding places and all sorts of hints and tips to help prepare for shortages in the event of a no deal brexit.

Bacon fat will last indefinitely in the fridge. It gets used up fairly quickly here though. Really good for roast potatoes.

BlackeyedGruesome · 04/04/2019 21:24

Oh dear. Asda have a four for a pound on tomatoes and beans, some may have accidentally fallen into my trolley. Oops. Not got a fucking clue where they will go yet.

Kids are going away for the weekend, they will come back to find their beds turned into high sleepers propped up on fifty billionty tins.

NoWordForFluffy · 04/04/2019 21:33

I've got a shit load of chopped tomatoes!

Beans are normally only £1.10; I need to see if we need more.

BlackeyedGruesome · 05/04/2019 17:22

kidney beans are normally 30p, can get asssorted other beans from 25p- 38p depending on which offers are on. black beans are more. depending on offers again.

bellinisurge · 05/04/2019 17:53

Google "Chocolate Covered Katie " to find recipes for brownies and other deliciousness using a tin of black beans or cannelini beans to make cookie dough dip.

NoWordForFluffy · 05/04/2019 19:02

Ah, do you mean beans as in kidney etc or baked, Gruesome? If it's the former I'll have to pop in!

nutsfornutella · 05/04/2019 20:03

Here's NHS Wales stockpile for 8 weeks

www.itv.com/news/wales/2019-04-04/4m-of-nhs-supplies-stockpiled-in-secret-warehouse-in-preparation-for-brexit/

BlackeyedGruesome · 05/04/2019 23:35

@NoWordForFluffy chopped tomatoes, red kidney beans, white kidney beans, rosocco(?) Beans, black eye beans. All at 4 for a £1 Asda, world foods aisle.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/04/2019 06:34

Ah. That's brill. I'll go there over the weekend!

aprarl · 06/04/2019 07:02

Can you imagine the security they must be having to hire at all these places?

Maybe it's a good time to be a henchman!

Dontlickthetrolley · 06/04/2019 09:44

Morrisons are also doing 4 for £1 on the tinned goods in the world food aisle too.

BlackeyedGruesome · 06/04/2019 09:47

Children are away. Need to sort the stash.

Accidentally ate half a box of Maltesers yesterday. Can eat all the crap out the freezer and replace with veg.

BlackeyedGruesome · 06/04/2019 09:47

Excellent. Until recently they were three for a pound.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/04/2019 11:51

Costco visit today for loo roll and a few other bits. Their tinned tomatoes still work out at 33p a can, not such a good deal.

BlackeyedGruesome · 06/04/2019 12:11

Morrisons savers ones are cheaper without offers so no, 33p isn't that good.

Hope you got some other bargains though.

Anyone else wondering whether there will be a delay or crash out and not knowing which way to bet on buying stuff?

TheOriginalChatelaine · 06/04/2019 12:23

I'm stocking up on Continental Quilts, my only worry is will they stop working post Brexit?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/04/2019 13:27

It's tricky Blackeyed, we are really close to a potential no deal at present. But at the same time we could end up with this flextension business and at that point who knows? So apart from loo roll, we are just maintaining. Everything apart from tins and other really long life stuff is being stock rotated.

dd is really doing well out of us in terms of advance purchasing! Trying to work out how we can get her food stash past the porters so they don't realise her Mum is quite crackers. Blush

Sainsbury's cheap tinned tomatoes were 30p a tin.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 06/04/2019 18:05

A small carry on suitcase or hold-all will do it OYBBK. Just breeze on past the porters Wink

Whatthefoxgoingon · 06/04/2019 18:06

I feel we all need to maintain our stocks until the deal is done, and a good 6-8 weeks afterwards until matters settle.

No exit date is in sight. It’s too early to become complacent now and undo all our preparations.

BlackeyedGruesome · 06/04/2019 19:10

Still maintaining the long life stock piles, just wondering when to add to the fridge/ fresh veg and fruit stuff.

Going to keep high stocks and rotate fridge ingredients. I will also endeavour to not end up with the dunce's hat for letting the petrol run down til the light comes on.

I am going to try and put in some last minute orders on the internet today or tomorrow.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/04/2019 20:57

I think we may need slightly more capacity than that WhattheFox Wink
but yes, bags and breezy, try to make it look effortless.

We refuelled the cars today, just in case.

BlackeyedGruesome · 06/04/2019 21:48

I really need to find additional space... Yet have buggered about all day being poorly and renewing car insurance.

BercowsSilkTie · 07/04/2019 08:45

I feel the need to do a stock take today

NoWordForFluffy · 07/04/2019 09:28

I know I've got loads of tuna!

It's more cheese, tea bags, and snacks this week I think.

BlackeyedGruesome · 07/04/2019 10:19

I have lots of tuna as dd liked the tuna dish I did, so I bought some more and now she has gone vegetarian.
