I'm so worried. Most people just didn't / don't see the far reaching consequences of leaving the EU.

It's funny, isn't it - why hasn't the EU stopped us from having better animal welfare, since they apparently dominate all our laws.

Presumably because the EU has minimum standards, so going above and beyond those isn't a problem?
