"Who said I don't like the system? What a weird thing to suggest"

Arrrggghhhhhhh - because you have been arguing against it!

time4chocolate · 05/11/2016 19:26

Like what you did there surfer.
I saw them live a few years ago they were brill Smile

WinchesterWoman · 05/11/2016 19:27

No I haven't

I've been telling you what the legitimacy of the system rests upon

It rests upon the majority vote

The entire system derives its legitimacy from the majority vote

Did you think that by pointing it out I'm arguing against it? Why would you think that? Why? Why?

GLUG

"It rests upon the majority vote"

And once MPs are elected they act according to their own conscience not the majority of the electorate .

If constituents don't like it they vote against them at the next election.

Representative democracy prevents the dictatorship of the majority.

It will be anarchy if something does happen - which I doubt that stalls or upsets BREXIT.
Leavers have been quiet in the face of abuse from Remainers but my goodness....the people I have spoken too - before the Ref, I have never known such anger, ie chatting to all sorts of people from total strangers out and about to friends and family ( who are a mix of L and R) my goodness...the anger back then from Leave voters. I for one would not like to see that unleashed in protest.

I shall also be one of their number - out protesting ( albeit in a peaceful manner) should anything happen ....I have already informed DH who is a remainer.

time4chocolate · 05/11/2016 20:09

Autumnintheair - I have posted on previous threads very similar and on one this evening where someone said along the lines of the country is screwed because of brexit and I answered along the lines of ....If you were of the belief that the Country was screwed on Wednesday the Country became very very screwed on Thursday. If they choose to close their eyes and ears to it then they are the stupid ones.

autumnintheair · 05/11/2016 20:15

There is a failure to understand that an enormous amount of people felt the country has been "screwed" in the past ten years.
People like me feel things cannot get any worse and people like me - are and been pushed to such limits, we cannot imagine much worse from Brexit.

We are willing to stand of the edge of the precipice and jump. A la Butch and the Sundance Kid and we don't even care that we cant swim.

surferjet · 05/11/2016 20:19

The mood of the country ( if my FB is anything to go by ) is very very angry.
This ruling has made things a 1000x worse. I don't get how any remainer can feel victorious? & as for the woman who brought the court case, how much abuse is she getting? Probably for the rest of her life too. hope she thinks it was worth it.

Autumn that's how I feel- I think older voters came out not because they're selfish but because they've see the lies and broken promises and corruption for years and years

Time they won't ever understand - some of them seem to think it's s game

WinchesterWoman · 05/11/2016 20:20

Have moved onto the croft original

Pots some of Junckers balls to cool off, then goes out to warm hands on the Clegg bonfire.

autumnintheair · 05/11/2016 20:31

winchester I cant speak for all the elderly but my own DF came out to vote exactly that reason, he is not stupid or selfish quite the contrary and he is a staunch Labour Voter.

I personally think voting away, democratic for our DC is a selfish thing to do, irresponsible thing to do and a heinous thing to do.

autumnintheair · 05/11/2016 20:32

WinchesterWoman · 05/11/2016 20:48

It's so nice to be here by the fire with like minded souls - in my real life I can't ever have these conversations. I work surrounded by committed remainers - so committed they can't conceive anyone with an education thinks differently. My husband is an embarrassed leaver and the rest of my family don't even know how we voted - they'd be Shock

autumnintheair · 05/11/2016 21:32

Yes its nice to chew the fat Winchester Grin In RL I am quite lucky, my most open minded and intelligent friends are in fact Leavers Wink a good mix of people.
The remainers are more closed minded I find, cant see beyond limited horizons but thats OK, I still love them ( including my own Dh)
