Ironic really but the mayor of Calais has said that she no longer wants to pay/enforce the border controls on the French side of the Channel (and why should she?) Rather than fewer migrants, this result has literally opened the gates.

Well she receives money from the EU to help police it. Why should she bother now. They can be like other European countries such as Hungary have been with the Syrian refugees. Open both the front and back doors and just let them pass through to where they really want to get to ie us.

They didn't build it up. They could have just let them pass through. They followed EU rules with EU money to help stop them coming across the channel.

Personally I don't think we should wait. Do it now as the French want and accept the consequences. Sink into a recession. We don't deserve them to help us make it easier. DH and I will be fine. Secure jobs and good equity and savings.
Ebbw Vale in Wales. Close to 40% unemployment. Due to being on the EU's most deprived list, they have benefitted massively with huge amount of infrastructure and a new link rd. The EU send to them vastly more than they send to the EU yet they voted overwhelmingly to leave citing immigration of which there is virtually none locally. Well I look forward to seeing them sink down the hole whist they wait for their London centric right wing PM to remember them.

Well, if we're putting up borders I'm pretty sure ours is the south coast of England not France. Why shouldn't France turn a blind eye to it all?? This is not an unexpected consequence of brexit.
