I did wonder what Nicola Sturgeon was on about when she said she and Sadiq Khan were looking into solutions for Scotland and London.

Bookaboo · 24/06/2016 19:47

And the "biggest twat of the referendum" award goes to James O'Malley.

He Does realise that millions of people outside London also voted to remain, right?

JassyRadlett · 24/06/2016 19:54

Well, what Khan's office were talking to Sturgeon's about ensuring both were independently represented in the exit negotiations.

Book, people get that but given the largest remain majorities were in Scotland, London and NI it's not really surprising that many voters from those areas feel very separate from the rest of the country, and feeling individual and collective solidarity.

Bookaboo · 24/06/2016 19:59

I now feel separate from the rest of the country, it doesn't matter what area you're in!
It's just another 2 fingers up to the rest of us who also voted leave.

Feck, I mean remain damnit!
Too tired

JassyRadlett · 24/06/2016 20:32

Book, it's horrible, and I'm sorry. I think it must actually be worse in your situation as at least we have the solidarity of knowing that most of our neighbours voted to stay.

fassbender · 24/06/2016 20:39

I agree with Book, I don't know anyone of my friends/family who voted Leave, yet the Leave vote got over 70% in our area. Gutted.

Chattymummyhere · 24/06/2016 21:29

I've never understood why London residents feel so superior and special they are still England yet disagree with everything you couldn't pay me enough to live there.

Kimononono · 24/06/2016 21:31

It's never gonna happen.

JassyRadlett · 24/06/2016 21:51

That's nice, Chatty. I've never met any Londoners who felt particularly superior or special. Rather they just like and feel attached to where they live, and don't feel they should apologise for living in Loathed London.

And after a regular like we've just had it's quite natural for Londoners to question whether the majority of the rest of England shares their values and priorities, the difference in the vote being so stark.

Have you examined what that chip on your shoulder is made of?

Spinflight · 24/06/2016 21:55

Independence for London?

Sure why not, we'll try water at £1 a pint and increase its cost with inflation.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 24/06/2016 21:58

What idiots signed this petition

The vote highlighted the divisions in our society this is what needs to be worked on

I have been shocked by poverty that i have see outside London, you do see it here but not on the same scale. there is so much wealth and opportunity in London surely the better solution is for that to be shared to areas in the uk that are struggling rather than London having so much and other places so little

Chattymummyhere · 24/06/2016 22:01

Jassy

No chips but London does always down across as thought is much better than the other parts of England/uk like their way is always best when simply it's a tiny part of the whole uk who are now throwing their toys out of the pram cause boohoo is did not go their way and I have family in London so I've visited plenty I still wouldn't live there.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 24/06/2016 22:03

Passport to Pimlico anyone?

JassyRadlett · 24/06/2016 22:12

Honestl, Chatty, I think your perception of how Londoners view the rest of the country is way off. I hear a lot from people outside London about how shit the place is but very little of the converse. It does seem, though, that Londoners aren't allowed to be happy or proud about where they live which I find a bit sad and divisive.

Many Londoners in fact move to other parts of the country at some point in their lives and love both. There are many brilliant places in the rest of England that previously I'd been very interested in living. However I'm an immigrant, and the referendum has been less than pleasant, so after the vote I feel if my future is in Britain it is probably best to stick to either London or Scotland.

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 24/06/2016 22:13

londonist.com/2016/06/what-would-an-independent-london-look-like?

Not serious, but quite entertaining.

Chattymummyhere · 24/06/2016 22:14

I know London commuters have put prices up in my city with executive homes being built just with those in mind rather than starter family homes.

London as this vote seems to of shown is very removed from the rest of England as a whole.

JassyRadlett · 24/06/2016 22:15

Spin, are you planning an armed takeover of Beckton and the Thames aquifers? And the Thames? Grin

dizzyfucker · 24/06/2016 22:19

Hmm what idiocy. Scotland has been a country for over 1000 years, how thick can you get to think you can measure London with the same yardstick.

JassyRadlett · 24/06/2016 22:22

Empress that's brilliant, it has cheered me right up. Smile

Bookaboo · 24/06/2016 22:26

Let's sign it & see what happens, seems to be the way to roll these days.

No trade deal with the rest of the U.K. Though Grin
Where ya gonna grow your veg? Keep your cows? Put your power stations? Clean your sewage?
James O'Malley is obviously not a very practical man.

SanityClause · 24/06/2016 22:28

London as this vote seems to of shown is very removed from the rest of England as a whole.

Actually, most of the big cities in England voted to remain.

Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff, Newcastle, Liverpool.

Also Oxford, Cambridge, Brighton & Hove, Reading, Cheltenham, Warwick, Bath.

So, places where immigrants settle, and English people work side by side with them, and live next door to them, all voted to stay.

SanityClause · 24/06/2016 22:29

Sorry, obviously Cardiff is not England. Blush

SanityClause · 24/06/2016 22:30

Oh, and I forgot York.
