This is why a lot of people won't admit to voting out.

When anyone (except DP who is also voting out) asks me, I say I don't know, as the assumption is that you're a bigot or a DM reader if you want out.

I've watched a lot of the BBC coverage, read everything that's cropped up on both sides and although I've been swayed slightly by some of it, I'm still leaning towards an out vote.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 22/06/2016 09:26

Remain here, as are DH, my family and most people I know.

Helmetbymidnight · 22/06/2016 09:31

Eh? people still think this is between left and right?

That's not true.

BreakingDad77 · 22/06/2016 09:34

the left & right absolutely hate each other

and themselves tbh this has rifted both the tories and labour.

The thing is 'leave' comprises two mutually exclusive groups those who want some free movement/free trade vs none at all. Should Leave win only one of those is actually going to get what they vote for.

Essentially it is ( although I've got lots of traditional left winger friends ( feminists, gay ) who are voting leave for their own reasons. Plus one or two daily mail friends who are voting in because all they're worried about is the value of house.
But so many left wingers actually despise being British, I've seen it on here when 'British Values' are discussed, they come on the thread & say things like 'fish & chips' & 'cheap package holidays' hahaha Hmm they don't want to be British, they want to be 'European'
They don't like Britain & do nothing but run it down ( I wish they'd fuck off somewhere else personally but they won't ) & these aren't immigrants. these are white, middle class, lefty wankers who look down on the lower classes & anyone who dares to support ukip. They are the type who'll vote remain.

Who's voting out? Tories, racists, those old enough to have benefitted from the EU now happy to to pull the rug from under younger generations in their own self interest, the politically short sighted, readers of low brow tabloids, those who benefit from less stringent employee rights....

I'm embarrassed on your behalf at your ignorance.

bkgirl · 22/06/2016 14:33

Hope so Limer. Its the working class that are on the frontline of war.

scoobyloobyloo · 22/06/2016 14:36

Not enough. Thank god.

Are even old enough to vote?

So much for decency hey

scoobyloobyloo · 22/06/2016 15:11

British Values' are discussed, they come on the thread & say things like 'fish & chips' & 'cheap package holidays

Is this what you're trying to protect by voting out surferjet?

BreakingDad77 · 22/06/2016 15:59

they don't want to be British, they want to be 'European

You can be British without being Tory, people don't seem to be able to believe this is possible.

Mhm.

I'll be interested to know come Friday morning whether a significant number of people did not share with anyone they were voting out in the same way people did not share in the polls or publically that they were voting Conservative because of this kind of wonderfully bridge building tolerance.

I've been canvassing, if I add all the thoughtful, intelligent, broad minded, cosmopolitan, well travelled and delightful people who are voting 'out' to this cliched, lazy and bigoted shite lump of people, then it's all good.

No wonder there are so many shy Brexiteers. Let's hope whatever the outcome, rather than eliciting smuggery, such abuse is recognised for the ignorant, divisive nonsense it is.

Fontella · 22/06/2016 18:09

I'm voting OUT, and so is everyone I know. I literally don't know one person amongst my friends, neighbours and acquaintances who is voting to remain, which is why the closeness of the polls puzzles me as it doesn't reflect my personal experience but I realise it could be geographical or other factors.

My kids (20 and 23) are also voting out and say all of their friends are too, apart from one friend of son.

Why1066 · 22/06/2016 18:09

I'm out.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 22/06/2016 18:14

Hope so Limer. Its the working class that are on the frontline of war.

and in the event of Brexit they will have Farage, Gove, IDS and Johnson to look after them.

fassbendersgirlfriend · 22/06/2016 18:37

I'm out. As is my entire family, Professional friends and Europhiles. I'm staggered at the facile arguments of racial bigotry. And about ignoring the future for other generations. I'm professional, work globally and have passion for diversity. The arguments are about WHO DECIDES. And the EU is a heinous waste of money.
OUT.
Nocoffee you really should try to read something other than Viz.

HollyGoeslightly · 22/06/2016 18:41

I'm voting out, as are my sister and her husband and my Dad. My Leftie Luvvie Aunt, who is a fan of Eddie Izzard and Bob Geldof is voting Remain.

SemiNormal · 22/06/2016 18:43

Me, my mum, my dad. Lots of friends saying they will but half probably haven't even bothered to register. I do know a lot of remainers though. I doubt we will leave.

HollyGoeslightly · 22/06/2016 18:51

I doubt it too, sadly. I can just picture the smug looks on the Remainers faces when they win.

NameChanger22 · 22/06/2016 18:56

I'm voting in. All my friends are voting in.

I've spoken to a few people who are voting out, the reason they've given is that they don't like migrants. Some of the people that don't like migrants are migrants??? I don't understand.

Viviennemary · 22/06/2016 19:27

I think a lot of lower paid people are voting out. Or people on zero hour contracts. What has the EU done for them. Totally zilch. Low wages suit all these footsie 100 people. They're raking it in. And selling the same old lies about country booming and overflowing with money. They are but a lot of people are not. I'm voting out. And DH has changed to out in the last few days from In.

Surferjet · 22/06/2016 19:35

Yes that's true, it's also about the poor/average v the rich elite.
( & what an absolute tosser Will Self is #C4news)

I'm a lower paid person. I'm voting in.

I think the majority of people voting out are either well below average intelligence and read the wrong newspapers, or are very racist, or are rich with vested interests. That's more accurate.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 22/06/2016 19:50

Capitalism,neo-liberalism, the free market and big business aren't going anywhere - regardless of the result. The Tories will also still be in power and they will champion the economic status quo.
