Me.

I think the majority of people voting out are either well below average intelligence and read the wrong newspapers, or are very racist, or are rich with vested interests. That's more accurate.

I think your rude and completely incorrect.

Stupid childish statements to make.

Funny that it is remain that complain about the 'nastiness" of the leavers but feel comfortableand ok spouting this sort stupidity.

Whistlejackets · 22/06/2016 20:04

I'm voting out.

I want to have democratically elected politicians deciding how this Country is run, not unelected unaccountable zealots in Brussels. I'm an Oxbridge graduate, so hopefully not below average intelligence Grin

A remain vote will give the EU carte blanche to consolidate its social and economic policies. E.g. EU wide tax rates anyone set at the rate most beneficial to Germany and sod everyone else No thanks.

Well aren't you lovely? I might just change my mind and vote In, you sound like the sort of person I want to be aligned with Smile

Oh wait - what I meant to say was FTFO.

MaccaPaccaismyNemesis · 22/06/2016 20:04

I'm in along with 95% of people I know. Call me selfish but I enjoy not getting visas to travel, protection of the EU, maternity leave, paternity leave, minimum paid holiday allowance, using health services within the EU, trade, human rights laws, sick pay, freedom to retire in any EU country and receive the state pension, embassy protection and police co-operation across the EU.

Oh, and all the ex-pats (aka....immigrants) will have to come back to the UK!

MudCity · 22/06/2016 20:07

Me. Will be very unhappy if we remain. It's time for change and this is our once in a lifetime opportunity to go for it.

( & what an absolute tosser Will Self is #C4news) Surferjet I haven't seen C4 News tonight, but I can just imagine what Will Self was like. I remember him on Question Time, when they were discussing Jon Venables when he was re-arrested. He was arguing that neither the public nor Jamie Bulger's family had the right to know why he had been arrested. He showed absolutely no compassion towards James Bulger's family and instead was quite passionate in protecting the rights of Venables. I thought he was an utterly vile, callous, smug bastard. Let me guess, he supports Remain?

StarUtopia · 22/06/2016 20:30

I've voted out. Many reasons.

Can I just ask though - this daft list for 'remain' that is doing the rounds...does anyone have a better version that shows the decent people voting for leave?

This : A good friend of mine came up with a great idea. If you don't have the time/inclination to find out all the facts about the EU referendum (I don't blame you) and are possibly unsure which way to vote, perhaps knowing how other notable people are thinking could help out.

Here are a few that strongly believe the UK should remain a member of the EU:

• Governor of the Bank of England
• International Monetary Fund
• Institute for Fiscal Studies
• Confederation of British Industry
• Leaders/heads of state of every single other member of the EU
• President of the United States of America
• Eight former US Treasury Secretaries
• President of China
• Prime Minister of India
• Prime Minister of Canada
• Prime Minister of Australia
• Prime Minister of Japan
• Prime Minister of New Zealand
• The chief executives of most of the top 100 companies in the UK including Marks and Spencer, BT, Asda, Vodafone, Virgin, IBM, BMW etc.
• Kofi Annan, the former Secretary General of the United Nations
• All living former Prime Ministers of the UK (from both parties)
• Virtually all reputable and recognised economists
• The Prime Minister of the UK
• The leader of the Labour Party
• The Leader of the Liberal Democrats
• The Leader of the Green Party
• The Leader of the Scottish National Party
• The leader of Plaid Cymru
• Leader of Sinn Fein
• Martin Lewis, that money saving dude off the telly
• The Secretary General of the TUC
• Unison
• National Union of Students
• National Union of Farmers
• Stephen Hawking
• Chief Executive of the NHS
• 300 of the most prominent international historians
• Director of Europol
• David Anderson QC, Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation
• Former Directors of GCHQ
• Secretary General of Nato
• Church of England
• Church in Scotland
• Church in Wales
• Friends of the Earth
• Greenpeace
• Director General of the World Trade Organisation
• WWF
• World Bank
• OECD

Here are pretty much the only notable people who think we should leave the EU:

• Boris Johnson, who probably doesn’t really care either way, but knows he’ll become Prime Minister if the country votes to leave
• A former Secretary of State for Work and Pensions who carried out a brutal regime of cuts to benefits and essential support for the poorest in society as well as the disabled and sick
• The guy who was Education Secretary and every single teacher in the country hated with a furious passion for the damage he was doing to the education system
• Leader of UKIP
• BNP
• Britain First
• Donald Trump
• Keith Chegwin
• David Icke

So, as I said, if you can’t be bothered to look into the real facts and implications of all this in/out stuff, just pick the list that you most trust and vote that way. It really couldn’t be more simple.

gunting · 22/06/2016 20:36

I'm working class, low paid, young mother who can't afford to buy a house and I'm voting remain.

I'm not into generalising, I don't think that all (or even most) brexiters are racist or xenophobic but vote leaves obsession with immigration has unfortunately attracted some extreme right wingers.

So. It's nearly here. Who's voting out?
Viviennemary · 22/06/2016 20:41

Of course all these rich fatcats we're doing great thanks want us to vote in. They love the low wages and the fact that big businesses more or less run the EU financially. They're there every day lobbying for guess who. Themselves and their shareholders. Not their workers on zero hour contracts.

and you think a new Tory government led by the likes of Johnson, Gove and IDS will address these concerns? Will Brexit replace corporations with co-operatives? If so, I'm all in! But it won't.

WalrusGumboot · 22/06/2016 21:10

But the point is (or at least it should be) - it won't be a Tory government forever! This vote is too important to think about it short term like this. Its effects will be felt long after any of the current campaigners are relevant.

We've had neo liberal governments for the last 30 years there is no reason to suspect a change from this, particularly when the neo liberal press back the status quo.

TheDowagerCuntess · 22/06/2016 21:21

I'm voting OUT, and so is everyone I know. I literally don't know one person amongst my friends, neighbours and acquaintances who is voting to remain, which is why the closeness of the polls puzzles me as it doesn't reflect my personal experience but I realise it could be geographical or other factors.

I'm the opposite. Haven't encountered a single person in real life / FB acquaintance who is voting to leave.

Terramirabilis · 22/06/2016 21:35

Voted out last week by mail from the US. Spent a lot of time thinking about it but ultimately decided out was for me. Mainly because of concerns that the EU is unsustainable - the euro seems like a mad idea with the disparities between the different economies of Europe. I'm not concerned about migrants going to the UK, but I do think trying to achieve "ever closer union" with such economically different places is impossible. While the euro and the EU aren't the same thing, they are closely intertwined. I also hate the sneering of the remainers so perhaps part of me wanted to thumb my nose at them.

Andcake · 22/06/2016 21:43

Everyone I know is in except my old slightly racist dad and an acquaintance on fb who is in his 60s and supports ukip

Parker231 · 22/06/2016 21:49

Had almost decided that I would vote out but having seen that the European Commissioner state that the EU won't give any further deals to us, I'm an out voter. Don't want an unelected EU deciding what happens in the UK and to continue to give us bad deals and the cost will go up even more as other poorer countries join the EU

windygales · 22/06/2016 21:54

I don't know anyone that is voting to leave.

Abraiid1 · 22/06/2016 22:05

I'm voting remain and so are my son and husband.

I must say that the contempt shown to those who wish to leave almost makes me want to change my mind to Brexit. Because the smugglers is repellent.

Abraiid1 · 22/06/2016 22:06

Smugness. Not smugglers.

gunting · 22/06/2016 23:26

Parker his comments have been taken out of context. He was saying that we couldn't have deals if we left so staying was the best option so we could work together on things.

BreakingDad77 · 23/06/2016 09:42

People like gove were blocking school building thats why we have pressures on infrastructure. When uk business is booming we need services expnaded in line with it. This is wholly a nu-labour conservative problem.

pambeesley · 23/06/2016 09:43
