Is it just me who's fed up with various contacts on Facebook (and yes it's always the same ones) constantly posting stuff about why everyone should be voting for Remain? It seems like every other post is something to do with it and it's getting really tiresome. Even if I was undecided I think it would get on my tits.

Yes I know I can turn it off!

Afishcalledchips · 21/06/2016 08:53

That said, most of Facebook is bloody annoying...

AveEldon · 21/06/2016 09:08

My feed is full of remainers saying the leavers love Farange & Trump and are racist and stupid
It's not the best way to engage the leavers and attempt to change/challenge their views

shinytorch2 · 21/06/2016 09:14

I'm old style - I talk to my friends face to face or on the phone! I don't have facebook - it's so relaxing. Try it!!

HermioneWeasley · 21/06/2016 09:14

And a lot of it is accompanied by the tone of "I must change the minds of the Leave voters by insulting their intelligence and telling them how mad they must be"!

Agree wth this. All my leftie friends in public sector roles are publicly appalled at how anyone could be so ignorant and racist as to any to leave. As an immigrant who works in commerce I dare say I know more about the economics and impact on business than they do, but the one or two I've spoken to about it simply cannot comprehend I can see arguments on both sides.

Haven't decided how I'm going to vote yet, but the barrage of virtue signalling is making me less likely to vote remain, not more.

StealthPolarBear · 21/06/2016 09:16

Who isn't allowed to post because of their job? The government have a clear opinion

StealthPolarBear · 21/06/2016 09:21

Purdah is an issue I agree but is less involved than say a general election
what is the grade above which uou can't campaign

PassTheCremeEggs · 21/06/2016 09:41

I don't agree with mud slinging and calling the leavers racists etc - no benefit in that at all and I'm wholly for remain. But I think it's good sometimes to stand up and be counted on social media. Lots of people look to their peers for guidance on where to find facts etc, I've read some great articles posted by friends of mine that I might not necessarily have seen otherwise, mainly for remain but some for leave too. I think it all helps to gee up the population to get interested on a personal level rather than the level of the very in engaging politicians.

The single most important thing is that people turn out on Thursday to vote. Regardless of the result, if there's been a good turnout it's been a fair fight. Social media is brilliant for this kind of thing.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 21/06/2016 09:47

Yes had the one with who's side are you on one

And another post that if we leave all those doing the service jobs that the British don't want to do will leave and they will have to get off their lazy arses and do them. This person earns £100k plus bonus and can't see it's an issue that some people are working full time but still have top up benefits Hmm oh and they vote labour

imwithspud · 21/06/2016 09:57

I've got the opposite on mine, loads of people preaching about why people should vote leave.

I'm all for sharing information but the preaching and implication that if you're voting differently then you're an idiot is wearing.

Breadwidow · 21/06/2016 09:58

You cannot campaign for a political party if you are g7 or above. You are allowed to be a member of a party though, at lease to til grade 5 I think. Lots of g7s and above do post political stuff on social media (now and during a regular general election campaign) because arguably you can post stuff indicating an opinion without being signed up to any particular party, which I guess is even more the case now. I think the rules probably need clearing up as they haven't been updated to reflect the digital age - with social media the difference between campaigning and just giving views is much murkier.

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 10:04

Yes I am getting quite a few, and its the " posturing" that's annoying me, the " I am so kind and lovely I am voting in", what mine says is bloody annoying.

IamSlavetotheEU · 21/06/2016 10:05

The next time someone is racist and calls all brits lazy I think I may well explode Grin

stop calling people lazy your demonizing and dehumanizing these people. stop it. Angry

kinkytoes · 23/06/2016 08:33

Argh. They've gone into overdrive this morning!!

OP posts:
kinkytoes · 23/06/2016 08:46

Now they're spouting: If you're undecided vote Remain as we can always have another referendum!

Hmm

OrangesandLemonsNow · 23/06/2016 09:10

I can't actually believe anyone would actually ever want to go through all this again!

SemiNormal · 23/06/2016 10:08

Kinkytoes that is all I'm seeing at the moment too, it's driving me bloody mad.

PumpkinPies38 · 23/06/2016 11:59

Yes most of mine vote things like "if you can't decide think of the wine!" And I feel embarrassed for their idiocy.

bkgirl · 23/06/2016 12:03

Copy that complete with fluffy kittens. So false, faux sweet and obnoxious.

imwithspud · 23/06/2016 13:27

Leave voters are very vocal on my fb this morning. Doing a great job at saying if you vote remain then you're a brainwashed idiot.

I hate this, why can't people just let others vote how they want without all the nasty rhetoric.

kinkytoes · 23/06/2016 14:08

Exactly. It's insulting the intelligence of every one of their Facebook friends. Why can't they just leave people to make their own minds up? I think a lot more of those people who are keeping quiet on the matter.

It's like a war on mine. Remainers shouting racist at people for just even thinking of voting leave and leavers shouting insults at Remainers Shock

eatsleephockeyrepeat · 23/06/2016 14:47

Leave have started hollering all over mine! Okay, it's one or two "fringe friends" (no diss, just saying my closer friends are of one mind politically), but there are no less than hourly posts.

A good one was "Vote to remain if you trust the likes of David Cameron and George Osbourne to have your best interests at heart." Nope, Johnson, Gove and Farage are our guys! Didn't dare point out to them that either way this isn't actually a general election... missed the boat a bit on that one I'm afraid.

kinkytoes · 24/06/2016 07:47

My two most vocal preachers are nowhere to be seen this morning. I'm a bit worried about them tbh!

OP posts:
kinkytoes · 24/06/2016 07:49

However I am pleased that their sanctimonious emotional blackmail didn't work.

OP posts:
bkgirl · 24/06/2016 07:54

my most vocal turned her fb to a black square
ah well change from spamming everyone with accusations and fluffy cats
I just would breather and step away
