After weeks of David Cameron saying we can control immigration whilst in the EU Corbyn speaks the truth & says there can never be any upper limit to immigration whilst we are in the EU & we can never limit numbers if we are an EU member

Not sure what Labour Remain have done to JC, put an implant in his neck or something, but he's parroting the lines without any conviction whatsoever.

I think he regrets not pushing more for Labour to support Leave, because if Leave wins, he'd be on a dead cert for a Labour victory shortly after the Tory party tore itself apart.

The Tory cuts are crippling our NHS not immigrants. Im afraid ThroughThickandThin that that is just the future. Even if we stopped all free movement from Europe we would still have immigrants coming here from around the world needing housing etc and we still need to house our own growing population

sorry but this isn't true, when I had my first child in 2007 maternity wards were in hideous crisis, stories coming out all the time, of women left to give birth alone, one MW between several women, deaths and all sorts, that was coming to the end of a long labor tenure.

I even wrote to MP about shortage of MW and they said they were investing in some, but they didn't, what they had done is lift working breaks and decided to massively increases the population and of course women giving birth.

Things don't go suddenly down hill this is labours legacy and the legacy of the CC and now Tory austerity. But none of it is being helped by not being able to predict how many people come here and a larger number of migrants.

Limer I just don't know how JC can face someone like Frank Field and have a clear conscious.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 21/06/2016 10:24

It's funny what a bit of power can do

We see it time and time again it changes people even Jeremy though his supporters will argue against this then in the next breath accuse Boris of just being ambitious Grin oh the hypocrisy of some of the left

Limer · 21/06/2016 10:28

Agreed IamSlave

Frank Field is a proper Labour MP. Cares for all of his constituents, can see the potential in all of them and wants them to have opportunities to work and improve theirs and their families' lives. This New Labour lot are just Tories dressed in red, sucking up to big business and supporting them trousering huge profits off the backs of the cheap EU labour.

While meanwhile there's an ever-growing underclass rife with crime, drugs, welfare dependency and all the health problems and mental health issues that go along with it all. None of those costs are borne by big business though, it's the UK taxpayer that has to suck that up.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 21/06/2016 10:36

Ultimately, the EU isn't JC's fight. Its a fight of Cameron's making - the right tear themselves apart over Europe.

caused by a lack of investment by consecutive UK governments -who do not have the stomach to improve the lives of the vulnerable. These people are often vilified by the gutter press and their readers appear to lap it up.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 21/06/2016 10:43

Labour pumped lots of money into the NHS but it is a bottomless pit

Yes there have been cuts but how can you possibly plan budgets when you have little idea of how many people you are going to care for

Immigration is not the fault of services struggling but to deny that it doesn't cause more pressure is ridiculous but one that is constant denied

CoolforKittyCats · 21/06/2016 10:51

Yet tories are still ahead in the polls of voting intentions by quite a margin.

Usually by this point it is the opposition who is ahead.

He tends to speak to those who already agree..

As a Labour member it is depressing.

Limer · 21/06/2016 10:54

But uncontrolled EU migration can only worsen the situation of the poorest already here. And that drags down everyone else, apart from the fat cats sitting on their pots of money earned from legions of those very same EU migrants on NMW and zero-hours contracts.

I agree that governments of all flavours have been at fault for not investing in the poorest - but all of them chase short-term goals such as economic growth (which is a false measure of prosperity anyway, it's been fuelled entirely by population increases, nobody except the fat cats are getting any richer).

BreakingDad77 · 21/06/2016 12:33

If we want UKPLC to make more money and hence generate more tax we need more people with the right skills etc.

Again getting tired of saying it Nu-labour and Tories SQUANDERED all the tax being generated by these people, as well as bodies such as NHS not tracking them.

in the UK tax evasion and avoidance is thought to be as much as 120 billion. Kinda makes worries about how much EU pale to nothing, and also austerity cuts are bollocks

www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2014/09/22/new-report-the-tax-gap-is-119-4-billion-and-rising/

Coming our of europe wont fix this -
