Whether you're an 'innie' or an 'outie'

This topic elicits strong feelings and I wondered if anyone feels disparaging or cynical about those voting in the opposite way to them - in other words, do you think less of somebody because of the way they vote?

I'm an innie, however, I am strongly opposed to the Tory party and as David wants us to remain in, I'm voting out. I don't know how else to express my displeasure at the decisions this government are making. I appreciate that this is both ridiculous and petty. My DH is furious with me. I still going to do it though.

I don't disparage anyone for what they vote. It's a hard call. But I despair at some of the speculative hype & scare stories (both sides). Then there is cynicism, people hurling insults like "You only want to vote that way because you're X or Y." It's Katie Hopkins quality of debate. :( Angry

As a scientist I really want the opposite result from what I think is best for the country, just to see how that would pan out. It's a very weird conflict to deal with.

No I can respect and understand the 'innie' view too, I just don't share it.

If anything just a little annoyed at the assumptions being made about why people are voting the way they are.

I'm not a frothing racist bigot and I'm sure 'innies' aren't all greedy fat cats lining their own pockets.

I'm out.

I find the closer it gets, the more vocal and opinionated - both ways - people are becoming. I don't yhink I'm going to discuss it with close friends and family soon to avoid any fallout.

I'm an outie and the stereotype that we are all racists is baffling and quite amusing. DP is a British citizen (also voting out) but came here as an asylum seeker. My grandad also emigrated here 60 years ago so it couldn't be further from the truth for me.

I've been Tory all my life, not keen on this lot but I'm voting on what I've seen some of the effects of 'in' have that I think are terrible. So - out.

Cameron wants in. Those further to the right of him want out. As do some a fair way along to the left.

How people vote does colour what I think of them. It says a lot about them and their values. Doesn't mean I would distance myself from someone who votes differently to me.

The way they vote wouldn't make me think less of them, but their reasons for voting might. That counts for whichever way they vote.

DS is in, DH and I are out, DB is in - we all respect each others views, and I don't think anyone can know with certainty which is the 'right' answer.

I feel frustrated by very passionate 'In' voters as I feel they are a bit blind. But that includes close members of my family and it's not going to cause strife between us.

I'm an outie, and I only know one 'innie'.....their Facebook page and self indulgent borefest blog is one long stream of insults about how as an outie, I am uneducated, racist, a little englander etc. And, if you enter into any kind of conversation with him about it you are labeled 'an Internet troll'....?
For me, it's the way they seem to think I need brainwashing re-educating and help understanding their agenda that really pisses me off. You can't argue with them once they start the line of 'you just don't understand' because it's a circular argument of 'no I don't' 'yes you do' after that.

I don't think less of them for voting differently necessarily (I'm an outie) but I do get pissed off if they say they're voting that way because for e.g. 'it would make going on holiday to Europe a bit harder' or other such trivial shite and I do then think they're a bit thick shallow.

I think I'll fall off the fence on the side of out. Not being allowed to check the qualifications and language skills of eu doctors from 2018 is a deal breaker for me.

Especially when we have already had one preventable death due to incompetent German locus GP being allowed to work in the NHS.

The coroner recommended in 2010 that more was done to prevent these dangers

And here we are, 6 years later. Lessons learnt? No.

We are allowing this EU dogma of 'freedom of movement for goods and services' to be placed ABOVE patient safety. This is crazy

I should add that my dh is from a non EU country. He had his qualifications as a dr checked many times. He did his language exams, he jumped through so many hoops to get his gmc registration. He is horrified by the idea that doctors can work here (or any country they didn't train in) without all these checks.

Oh and I do get a bit stabby when people say ' I know the EU isn't perfect but if it's reformed I think we'll be better off staying in' - I want to shout what are these reforms that you talk about, who's going to bring them in, the fucking EU isn't going to choose to reform itself is it?

And breathe....

Thankfully the vast majority of people I know want to leave so we don't actually waste our time talking about Brexit at all.

Verging on being an outie but need to do my homework before I make my final decision. Very fed up of the Tories at the moment.

Interesting that there are so many outies on here. I thought it would be the opposite.
